Boy to visit girl's family before girl to visit boy's family?

Here in China, at least in shanghai, when boy and girl are satisfied with each other, usually the boy goes to visit the girl's family first. He is supposed to bring some gifts to the future parents in law. Then the girl goes to the boy's family. It is almost right before the wedding that the parents will meet at a dinner, usually in a restaurant, as a formal acknowledge of the relationship. Do you still have some sort of process, if yes, what is it?

In fact,I don't have this kind of experience,but my friends have. The experience is that her boyfriend went to her family with many special local product which come from his hometown.Then my friend went to her boyfriend's home,and the parents of her boyfriend gave her some money.I don't know the accurate amount.At last,they arrange their parents to meet at their college before they graduate.Now they prepare for romantic wedding. This is a typic example I know in my daily life. Happy mylotter!!~

Normally, it is no more a practice in cities to receive money from the boy's parents.

Here in India mostly the parents of girl or boy goes to visit the other family.. in same as you said taking some gifts and all. Here there is noway a boy can go to go to the girls house and ask her parents for marriage. thanks
