Because my wife's family lives on the other side of the country and we have friends all around the country we decided to with a flat rate phone bill of about $35 a month. For that amount we could talk anywhere in America 24 hours a day, 7 days a week local or long distance and the bill would never go up.
When we had somebody staying with us who had family members outside the country we sometimes had unexpectedly high bills, so we had the person buy phone cards to make those calls.

A friend from church uses the long distance phone service that goes through an adapter connected to his computer. He says that for a one time cost for buying the adapter and then a modest cost per year he gets to call all around the country. He says he is saving a lot of money with it and the voice quality is good.

I'm usually not shocked by my phone bill, but my electric bill on the other hand! I just recieved it yesterday and man was I shocked!! It was almost $500!! We didn't do anything different this month than we did the last month. We haven't turned up the heater, we haven't taken more showers or baths, haven't washed more clothes than we usually do. I just don't know why it jumped so much! I guess I better start working a little harder on this site to cover it,huh! RIGHT, like I can make that much here!

Dear friend,
It was happened several times in our home as when we used call for all silly matters and when our mobile phones are not in much use. Moreover when we have guests. At this time we have limited to automatic stopping of phone when the amount reaches Rs. 20,000/- or more.

I don't often use my telephone. In fact, it can sit there for days and I don't call anyone nor does it ring. Same with my cell phone. My boys are so busy I usually wait for them to call me.

I have unlimited plan for my cell phone so it doesn't matter how long I use my phone for... My bill always stays the same... I do have landline phone at home but that's only because I have DSL for internet & my daughter uses the phone once in a while just to call me or her friends call her at home...

hi ammie07, my dear freind, this was the problem which i use to face when i was not married, at my parent's place. we use to be shocked like anything because i use to do all thecalls by my cell phone and my parents are also having their own cell phone. my sister was not having her cell phone at that time, so we use to think that she use make that call. but then one day i asked for the whole history of the bill and i found that there are so many numbers which are not of ours. then we got the phone locked and somebody from in only told that these people who work in exchange, they sometime talk while connecting directly from in between the line. it was really bad, but some how we got a little control.

Hi ammie07! Yes, that happened to me a long time ago but I was not the one who was using the phone all the time. When my brothers and I were still living in our parents home, I was the one who was paying our phone bill since I was working at that time and I wanted to help my parents in some of our household expenses. I was shocked to see that our phone bill was so high and learned that my brother who was still studying at that time will call his girlfriend long distance every night. I was very angry at him but my mother told him that he has to pay me back through his allowance. haha..We didn't talk for a few days because of that and since then he learned to regulate his calls. haha..
Take care and have a nice day!

Hi,
It once happened when I got really shocked looking at my phone's bill. We had applied for a broadband connection plan and have paid already for the modem and installation charges. But when the bill came, they included the charges which we have already paid. All of us became confused. But finally we went to the office and got the bill corrected. Hopefully, none of us suffered a heart attack.
Regards,
AJ-Rox

Well sometimes we should not be shocked for as long as there is something wrong with the billing. We are the ones who have the control over it and we chose to overspend on it so we have to pay for the price for it. If we are not happy with the service we always have the choice to disconnect it anytime you don't need their services.

Hi, friend.
Unluckily, this has already happened to me twice in the past. First, when my spouse and I were still unmarried but we were already exlusively dating, our primary means of communication was through the cellular phone. He isn't contented with just text messages and prefers to call me or I'll call him; he's quite the jealous type of guy.
As I expected, our phone bills soared to more than 10,000 pesos or approximately 200 dollars. I almost hated him for this incident. I was the one who paid all of this amount because he was out of job during that time.
Then, nearly the same incident occurred when he had to stay in the province to till the land his father owned. We were already married then and I was working here in the city. I had to call him regularly which lasted for about a month or so. When I finally got the phone bill, I was definitely shocked and irritated. My co-employees were even surprised to learn about the huge amount because I used the office phone to call him. And he was using a mobile phone which charges 8 to 12 pesos every minute.
This is partly the reason why I chose to have no mobile phone, so as to avoid substantial phone bills. Also, I've observed that my spouse is quite addicted to texting even if I'm not the one he's communicating to; although I don't get jealous about it since I feel that if he plans on cheating me, it's his loss, not mine.

I dont have shocking experience like that but I was shocked because I'm using my landline telephone to make a miss call to my boyfriend's cellphone when I arrive home then suddenly, when the phone bills arrived they charged me with a miss call with a five seconds ring of my boy friends mobile phone. He wont answer it because that number was a roaming number so when he answer that call he will pay something.

Hello ammie07! So far, I haven't experienced anything about phone bills. I am a prepaid user so I only use my phone if it's something important. I can choose how much I will use. But I am not sure if prepaid is applicable in your country.
