Why are most women annoyed when the toilet seat is left up ?

Most women I know are annoyed almost to the point of going ballistic when the toilet seat is left up and I cant seem to understand why. Personally I like when its up I can almost close my eyes and aim .In fact it is most annoying when I get up at night and aim only to find it up (sorry about this bit of grossness). My analysis of the situation is that you cant do anything in the toilet with it down anyway so why not leave it up so you don’t have to lift it up every single time ....but then I am a male. How do you like the toilet seat up or down and please tell me that there is at least one woman out there who like it up too. If you are like the toilet seat down please tell me why ?,maybe you will convert me . Men you can also weigh in on this discussion. By the way are there any men who like it down too ?

Probably because they have to use it with the seat down. It could be asked, why are some men annoyed about having to lift the seat up and back down again? Well actually I do think it should be left in the position it was originally found in, so it's not that annoying to me to have to put it back.

We probably wouldn't mind if we didn't have to sit down to use the bathroom 100% of the time. My son was raised to put down the toilet seat when he's done. Takes him a second and his ego is still intact.

I like it down:) And the strangest part.. I pee sitting down. Only at home though. I don't care if it's faggy. I sit when I'm at home and stand up when I'm in public. Maybe I'm lazy, hehe:)

I'm not annoyed by it anymore. After 13 years of marriage, I'm used to a man that wasn't raised to put the seat back down. It's habit for me to check to see if the seat is up before I go in the middle of the night. Honestly, it's a germ infested area, which has been proven. Now my youngest didn't check and poor thing fell in. She gave her dad a chewing out, because imagine, she's a petite 6 year old. I guess what I'm saying is, put your feet in our shoes. Go to sit down and start to fall in, because of that you go to grab the edges. Those edges contains enough germs to kill someone. Of course you wash your hands, but still the thought.

We need the seat to go and when it isn't down it pi**es us off. In fact the toilet seat would be the reason I would Never share my bathroom with a male, ever. If a guy wants to live with me , we Need separate bathrooms. In fact the toilet seat and lid are both down in my bathroom. That way both females and males have to lift something to go.

You say when it's up you can almost close your eyes and aim. For us women, if it's dark we can quite easily fall in which isn't a pleasant way to wake up! I remember so well from my childhood how my mom would get so mad at my dad because he was constantly leaving it up and when I, just a little girl, would get up to go in the night my little butt would fall through every time. The worst part about itis there are so many men who not only don't put the seat DOWN, as it belongs, but they also can't even aim straight with it UP! We women can't win for losing...lol! Annie

I think the problem is that many women must walk backwards into the bathroom and subsequently fall into the toilet when sitting down. Sine I grew up with three older sisters, I'm programmed to lower the seat in my own home. When it comes to public restrooms though, I always want it up and I always leave it up because I don't like touching a public toilet seat to lift it. Typically I use my foot to lift the seat.

i could care less if it's up or down-it takes me all of two seconds to lower the lid.what i hate is the ones who miss the toilet entirely..that's way more disturbing at 3 am than the lid being up.

HAVE YOU EVER SAT DOWN ON THE TOILET WHEN THE SEAT WAS UP? FIRST IT'S COLD, THEN IT HURTS YOUR BACK BECAUSE IT'S LOWER THEN USUAL, OFTEN IT'S THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT IN THE DARK WHEN YOU'RE NOT REALLY AWAKE. AS YOU CAN SEE BY THE cAPITAL LETTERS I'M OF ONE OPION ABOUT THIS.

I cannot stand it if the toilet seat is left up it shows a total lack of understanding and laziness and it looks horrible and course. It is not a public toilet it is ours and due respect for our feelings please. We spend ages cleaning our toilet and want to keep it nice and pretty and how can we achieve this look if the seat is up.It is a woman thing and if you want a peacful existence with a female I suggest you put the seat down.

yes, I wonder how many men out there, if they're in a mood, deliberately leave the seat up, to wind up their missus (woman). Seriously though, I'm with you on this one, it all makes for harmonious surroundings to have consideration for those we live with

Despite being a man I prefer to find the toilet seat down instead of up. Having your toilet seat up will enable flies and other insects to mulitply in such awkard unhygienic places. Therefore I know that it might be annoying to put the toilet seat up but it is not that big inconvenience to put it up. Right now I have to teach my 8 yr old son to do the same. He often forgets to put it down and you can hear my wife yelling blaming me that I am careless. I always get the blame because of my son.

This has been a gender argument since the beginning of time I swear but I like it when the husband puts it back down for me. Because see unlike you men who can use the toilet with the toilet seat up. Us women can't infact if we get up in the middle of the night to use the toilet we could fall in. Infact when I was pregnant I had to always check the seat to make sure it was down and if it wasn't I would throw a fit because I don't want to fall in. Us women can easily fall in if th toilet seat is up. Infact a couple of times I did fall in there's no worse feeling than getting your butt wet in the toilet water.

First of all, we always have our seat/lid down in our bathrooms, because our animals like to play in there, so we are in the habit of shutting the toilets completely so they can't. But I can't tell you how uncomfortable it is to get up in the middle of the night, go into the bathroom without turning on the light - so you don't wake or disturb anyone else in the house - and sit down to go to the bathroom and find - too late - that the seat is up!!!!!!! NOT FUN!!!!!

Apparently, you've never fallen into a toilet, have you! Men will stagger into the bathroom at night, when it's dark, and love it when the toilet seat is up so they don't have to be so careful when 'aiming' or actually wake up enough to lift the lid. But women, yeah, this has happened to me, if WE wake up in the middle of the night and have to pee, stagger into the bathroom and sit, what a RUDE awakening when our bums are in the water because the seat is up!!! Luckily, in the house hubby and I have now, we each have our own bathroom so the toilet seat issue is not a problem. But, it's happened to me before... twice, actually, and it's NO FUN to sit down in ice cold water!

I do not really have this problem, as I suppose it has come second nature for my mate to lift it everytime, just from life experience of living with more women then men in his famiy, I suppose. In the few circumstances that it does happen, when males are over and such, I don't feel upset that I have to lower it. I think that burden should be shared. I think that the women who have a problem with it are probably not too observant and have busted their bottoms on the porcelain several times. Somewhat painful. Though, I think that if they admited it, more men might make the effort to do so most of the time.

I am a woman and as far as I am concerned it is annoying particularly in the middle of the night as you approach the toilet in the dark and you don't realize the seat is not down and... well it can be very cold and uncomfortable. Come on guys it takes a second to do, just like putting a new toilet roll on the holder; it doesn't take much, it really doesn't!
