pretty much no matter where you live, there are some sort of daily news cast that is shown on tv at an appointed hour (our is at 6 pm). we let our girls watch the news, but they are older (11 & 15) and i think it important for them to know what is going on in the world.
what about you? at what age would you let your kids watch the news?

hi cher013
i let my girls watch the news, i encourage it,i dont want them to be unprepared for what is really out in the world.i dont want to scare them but i think that even children need to realize that the world is not as peaceful as thier own back yard and i think it makes them appericiate what they have at home that much more.

Their ages are probably fine. They are old enough to be made aware of things. Younger kids shouldn't be allowed with some of the weird stories they have on the news. All of the murder, raped, child snatching, etc. It is awful.

I encourage my teens to watch the news on tv and to read the news on the internet and to read the news in the paper. They need to be aware of what is going on in this world. It will help to prepare them to go to work. Also, some day they will be the generation that is running the world and pushing our wheelchairs. They need to know what it is going to take to survive and succeed.
