Is there anyone else here on myLot that is doing the Beta test for Microsoft's newest operating system.
I just finished downloading the beta test software from Microsoft and I am looking forward to playing with this release.
It appears that this new Windows product is a resource hog like Vista but it also appears to have a lot of cool new features.
If you would like to get in on the beta testing just visit this link and have fun!

I have a 10MB broadband connection and it took about 20 mins for me to download it. The file is, if I remember right about 2.4GB in size.
If you are working with a slow connection then you may not want to try to download it as it s a rather large file, thus I only recomend it for a high speed connection.
Thank you for the reply and have a great day!!!

51k will take forever to download this OS. As I said it is like 2.4GB in size which is about the size of XP Fully installed, to give you a compairison. It does have a seperate downloader so that if your connection is lost or whatever you can easily start back where you were at with the download rather than loosing it like a normal download.
Thank you once again for the responce and HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!

Hey,
I haven't actually tried out the Beta Version myself but have seen people comparing the shutdown and boot time to Vista. So far it seems much faster in these aspects. Lets hope that it is nearly as fast as Windows XP! Happy Lotting!

The shut down and boot time are resonable and rather close to Vista, the system response is kind of slow but that may be due to the whole beta idea, as beta is a working process and as such there will still be bugs in it.
Vista to this day gets a bad rap from it's November 30, 2006 release date onward (Look at The Mojave experiment) as there were still alot of bugs to be worked out in it's execution. From what I see this new OS (Windows 7) is a retooling of Vista with some upgrades. I am on my Windows 7 partician now and for the most part it looks and feels like Vista.
We all know that the jump from XP to Vista was a great leap and now this 7 follows the design of Vista rather than the older OS. With this great leap came alot of glitches to the system, stability, reliability, etc... All of these glitches caused alot of bad thoughts toward the new technology and now that most of the glitches are gone and Vista already has a bad taste in most people's mouths, they take their OS (Vista) and added new bells and whistles and called it Windows 7. This is what I am getting from this beta test.
The above opinion is from mee a regular user with an open mind. I have a particianed hard drive with VISTA, XP, UMBUNTU (Linux) and now 7. 7 is like the next generation of Vista.
Have a wonderful day and happy myLoting!!

I was planning on testing it but I don't have a computer capable of handling it. I have a friend who is testing it and he seems quite satisfied with it. I talked to him and he said it is a bit better than Vista for now. I'm looking forward to using Windows 7 when I get my new computer, hopefully next week.

This system seems to be great so far as I have yet to encounter a bug, but it is quite a resource hog. On Vista I have a base rating of 5.9 out of 5.9 but with this Windows 7 I am only getting 7.5 out of 7.9, thus even more resources are being used.
I wish you the best of luck in your new computer.
HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!
