Did this ever happen to you after a cruise?

For all those cruisers out there, can you answer this? My husband and I took our first cruise last month. We did not get seasick or vertigo while onboard the ship for 5 days, however, when we got back on land, we were both sick. He was nauseous and vomiting and we both had vertigo for over 5 days. It took a long time to feel like we were back on land and it was hard to work and focus. Everyone I have talked to that has taken a cruise has said they never heard of this. Does anyone know why this would happen or has it happened to you?

Oh, boy, yes.....and mine lasted for 10 days! It was not every waking moment, but then a wave of "vertigo" would come over me, and I would act like I was a inebriated sot....a worse case of "seasickness" on land! The floor, the sidewalk would come up to meet my steps...my head would reel! We had only been on board for 96 hours, transferring a boat from Sidney, B.C. to Newport Beach, Calif....but we had 16 foot trailing seas....really, rough waters! After docking, cleaning boat, we made the mistake (actually I was the only one affected) going to a bar in Costa Mesa...to eat, drink & celebrate our safe arrival! What a humungous mistake! Just a couple of sips....and I was sick, like I never hope to be again! I was the laugh of the crew...and out of the 2 week holiday in Southern Cal. I spent 10 of those days, having it happen...and being the laughing stock of the crew! Been there, done that, my friend! Cheers!
