Onions are known for their good qualities and also notorious for their pungent odor? But onions have always enhanced the taste of any dish that is prepared. Still, why are onions not a favorite item that people add to salads. Why? One can always chew on some sugar-free mint after.

I don't like them in salads because I don't like to eat them raw, I prefer them cooked and they loose the crunch when you've cooked them so it wouldn't work in a salad. I just find the taste too strong when the onions are raw, they are very good for you and I put them in cooked dishes all the time.

onions taste better when it is cooked so i think that is one of the reason why onions are not a big hit on salad. i am not a vegetable eater but my wife is. when she order salads on resti she makes me eat some as long as there are no onions. she does not like onions either. welcome to the wonderful world of mylot rameshn. have a day

Who says onions are not a favorite in salads? They are on every salad bar I have ever been to and I use them in salads at home as well. I think they add a good flavor to the salads.

I like cooked onions but I'm not too crazy about raw ones. I don't mind finely diced raw onions on a burger but I find that large hunks of onion in a salad can be just a little overwhelming. If they are smaller pieces then I don't mind so much (plus they're harder to pick out).

For me it would have to be cause of the bad breath they give you. How ever now I never travel with out a piece of gum to combat that. So now I can have onions on my burgers, my salads, my tacos, and every thing else I may like to enjoy.
