RSS Reader / myLot

Can you tell me what exactly is RSS Reader? I've been hearing about it at so many websites but still am confused about it's use. What are the benefits and how is it installed? Thanks in anticipation.

I have no idea. I have often wandered what it is myself but I have never weanted to actually use it, I guess. I hope someone can answer this.
