Do you have the habit of providing lift for strangers

You might be owning a two wheeler or a four wheeler and while travelling to office or way back home or travelling on a highway, do you have an habit of giving lift to strangers?
I give to people, purely based on my intuitions. I give lift to 1 out of 20 persons.
What about you?

I would like to, but I neither have a four wheeler nor a two wheeler.
Mostly, people of my area resort to ask the commuters for lift, as the public transport would be crowded and the other modes are costly. Particularly, at school times.
And as a lot of construction works and maintenance works going on enroute, asking for lift has become unavoidable.
