We have a cinema close by that offers matinee ticket prices of $6.75 each. Their regular prices are $9.50 for adults, so the matinee is a pretty good deal.
We don't go to see the movies too often. It depends on what is showing that is acceptable for the whole family. Most movies that we might want to see we wait for it to come out on DVD and rent it or borrow it from our local library.
The last movie we saw in the cinema was 'Bedtime Stories.' We didn't buy any candy, just some popcorn and drinks. With the price of the tickets and the refreshments, it cost us almost $80.00 for six people!

I do not regret the $80 spent. We did, in fact, have a good time seeing the movie. Sadly, though, it is not an inexpensive form of entertainment so it limits our choices to the movies that we really want to see. Instead of going to every movie we would like to, we are forced to make the decision to go see it or wait for the DVD.
For the price of one movie ticket, we can rent the DVD for a week. That is a 75% savings. With the money we save, we can do other things or enhance our DVD watching by picking up something special for dinner or snacks.
I will still take my family to the movies...just not as frequently as I would like to.

i would say it's a way of life here.
For students, 4 pm - 6pm at certain cinemas charge about 6 bucks. All else, it'll be 7.50 for weekdays.
On weekends, tickets can go up to 8.50 and 10.50 for blockbusters.
in my point of view, it's expensive!

Movie ticket prices in our country varies. If the mall is more of the upper class type, then it is pretty expensive. But in some ordinary theaters, prices are not that high though it has increased for the past few years.

Normally a movie ticket is about RMB50, than means to say it's about USD7.40 and I think it's expensive. As most people don't have a high salary. And usually you won't go to see a movie alone. So I think the price for a movie ticket is very expensive here.
I love China

Movie tickets are fairly expensive where I live - about $9.00 for an adult ticket.
