Wow...a profound question;-)! I agree, that many probably "parrot" the rants of caring and concern, but I do feel that most people are fundamentally "good" and do care. While I don't mean to get preachy or anything, I believe in what Jesus taught...as well as may other gurus of the past..."Above all else, love your neighbor as you love yourself." What does that mean? Can one truly accomplish such a feat. I am concerned about my neighbors well being...did they get robbed, are they sick, getting divorced? But do I really "love" them as I do myself. As a monist, this type of "love", for my neighbor (i.e. country) and planet (i.e. environment) is something I constantly strive toward. In that respect, I do care...but alas, I fall short a lot. It's not easy to truly and honestly care...and I believe that many confuse "concern" for "caring". So, to answer your question, I am generally concerned (meaning I think about and consider) the things you mention, but most of the time, I can't honestly say I "care" or empathize. I have my periods were I feel truly "connected" with things such that I can say that I REALLY "care", but this is not a persistent state. Personally, I believe that achieving that state is enlightenment...a persistent state of connectedness with everything. I am thus, not "enlightened" at this point in my development...but I am on that path, striving to achieve that state permanently. Maybe I went too "way out" with this answer, but I hope it helps. Thanks for such a great question :-)!

i love my country a lot and respect the people here with different religions in India, there is vast diversity.....but about the environment here, though we care its going a lot out of hands, even the leaders and the powerful personalities can't do much, the terrorism etc are not in the control of common man, though we care and want to change it, can't do much...but heartily feel that the people of my country should not be killed mercilessly like this and there should be peace all around

I care enough about the environment to recycle. It takes effort to sort the recycling and to take it to the drop off point. I care enough about other people that I will make donations to charitiable organizations and have volunteered my time at a food bank. I think I do care and the reason is that God has given us instructions to care for others as we care for ourselves.

I think people care about those things, really care. But everyone has to prioritize their lives. Most people are not so selfless that they care about those things to the exclusion of their personal life. Most of us have no choice but to focus our attentions on the concerns closer to home. Now, a lot of those can be incorporated into our personal lives. Caring for environment can be shown by taking care to conserve and recycle. Care for a neighbors could be as simple as just chatting with them when the opportunity presents itself, or volunteering when you can.
But in a time when people are being forced to realize that life isn't going to be easy, it's difficult to care about the greater picture. You are too scared for your own. Charity is easy when things are going well, but much more difficult when things are rough. However, our society has put such a focus on the individual in the past few decades, I wonder if people even realize what caring looks like anymore. It used to be that people felt a responsibility for the world around them, but the trend lately has been to wait for someone else to clean it up.
Personally, I try to do little things everyday to live up to my goals of being a more caring person. I try to take time out for people and for the other things in my life. I'll be honest, I don't care enough to become a activist right now. I have other things on my mind. But I do care enough to think about how I can help in my own way. A lot of people say that one person cannot make a difference, but without one person no difference can ever be made.

I really do care for my family, my friends and neigbors. With the environment I do care with the little things I can participate in, example the right place for garbage disposal, cleaning the sorroundings and gardening in order to have fresh air. I also joined tree planting activities. For the country, I care enough by being a good citizen and teaching my children on how to be good citizens as well. When I was young I joined the Womens Auxillary Corps, having myself ready just in case women will be called for aid in depending our country. For our neighbors we do care by simply getting well along with them. Do help for the needy if we can. Voting the right persons to be government officials who of course will be governing our people and country. Little things we do unknowingly these are ways of caring. I think however if we are posted in higher levels of our society we can do more carings to all of these as we would have enough resources and reasons in doing.

I believe that I do care about the country and the environment. After all, we do need to protect the environment because we want to stay healthy and we want our children to be safe also.
I just can't say that I don't care about these things. When it comes to celebrities and all of the gossip I tend not to want to be bothered with all of that. I have more important things to worry about!
