People are already receiving their W-2 tax forms, is anyone filing right away or are there people who are waiting until after the new President takes over to see if there will be any tax changes.

Being a strict procrastinator, I have a standing appointment at 1:00 pm on the last Sunday before April 15. I see NO need to rush!!! This has nothing to do with the new President as I have been doing this for the last 16 years. My tax lady likes it that way & so do I!!! When I wait that late, she rewards me by giving me FREE electronic filing!!!

Why is that? I would think she would be extra busy since it's so close to the deadline.

Well, you know Howard I'm not filing until later. As I hate filing I do get money back but not a lot. Taxes just make me nuts so I wait until March. If I could get by without doing then I think I would. Not caring if they owe me or not. I just can't get why they can't take out what they are supose to and leave it all a lone. But they did make jobs that way. You have a good day.

The dreaded taxes, I know everyone hates them. I like your idea, take out what we owe and leave us alone.

We will be filing right away once the tax forms are mailed to us. Just want to get it out of the way. My husband is a taxman so I do exactly what he tells me to do. He's busy at work now so once he brings home the final forms I will sign and we are good to go. My income is so minimal that it's almost a joke. I only work part time and primarily during the spring and summer.

That's good that you have someone at home that can do taxes, I wish I had that.

I have to pay this year. There is no way I'm paying early. People shouldn't give the IRS extra money.

I am not sure when I will get our taxes done. I really doubt if my husband will have his W-2 before the swearing in and to tell you the truth I hadn't even thought of any changes that would occur right afterwards.

Maybe those changes won't go into effect until the next tax year. I think many people are just wishing for this.

Yes I would think if anything on the income taxes were to change it would almost have to take place next year since all forms and programs are set up for this past tax season and I am sure some have even already filed their taxes.

Hello howard96h, I have received mine too and since last year, I declared my tax online. Well, of course I have nothing to do with the new US President or need to see whether there will be any changes or not but just let you know - we are also busy declaring our incomes right now The due date will be the end of February, 2009 and I don't want to do it last minute...

They sent out the form in December and since a few years back, we can just declare our incomes online. I started to do that a year ago. Before that, I would filled up the form and sent it back. I have yet to declare for this year but not going to wait till last minute as the system always down when it is closer to the due date.

Well, here it is March 2nd. I really need to consider finishing up filing my taxes so we can get our refund. I always seem to procrastinate a bit for some reason but know it is about time to get them in. Since we own a place we had to make sure we had all of our paper work, but now that we do, it is now just as good as any to get all of the stuff in for sure.

Even though people say any new changes would take effect the next year it has me wondering (the way he makes it sound) like he can do it immediately. Hmmmmm I am going to wait a short while, we do have until April 15th anyway.

I have not got my W-2 back yet, but I will probably just go ahead and file my taxes, as it probably won't make much difference for me, as I am single, and I don't itamize or anything. I doubt I could really get anymore money back.

I am single and I don't itemize either but if he changes the taxes then maybe we all will be paying less tax, I hope he does like he said he was going to do and reduce the taxes for us. Guess we will just have to wait and see. I have my fingers crossed.

My husband does our taxes, I don't think the presidential change will affect when he does the taxes. Once we get everything and he has a free weekend to do them he wiil do them. I think his spare time affects the time of when he does them more than anything else.

It would be nice if the taxes were reduced for us after what we're all going through. Wishful thinking on my part, I guess.
