Does anyone do any kind of family tree or family history? I've been working on our family tree and have traced some of my husband's relatives back to the Mayflower. It's really fun to see how far back I can go. I'm doing it online Ancestory.com but would like to find some good free geneology web sites if anyone knows any. Ancestory.com is good for a start but all I can get is dates for free. I have to pay to get other information. I would like to know more history. Anyone do this kind of thing? Where do you get informations?

This is one of thoise fascinationg subjects that I have been meaning to do but have never got around to doing. We do have letters from the 1800's handed down on my father;s side but we haven't done any major research. I'm always thinking that I will do this when I retire. A good place to start would be checking the Mormom records - I have heard that they are extensive. Sorry that I cannot help you more.

It is a lot of fun. I thought of doing it before but never started until my daughter in law sent me a link to be a guest on Ancestry.com. She was starting a tree for her side of the family and included my son. So I was able to start with him and continue on. I traced one back to the MayFlower - William Brewster. He was related to my Mother in law. It's a lot of fun to see how far back I can go. I may end up joining Ancestry.com for a month or so. That way I can get more records.
Thanks for the suggestion.

I do not know any free sites but you can go to the Geneological Library at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints and do all kinds of research for free. They have one of the largest databases in the world. Anyone can use the library for free. They would also be able to refer you to other sites that might help you. Happy searching!
