I'm always looking to be turned on to new music, so does anyone have any new stuff they are really enjoying at the moment? Can be any genre of music - just something that you just found that's awesome to you?

I guess it depends on your definition of "new." She & Him released their first album, Volume 1, in March, 2008.
"She" is Zooey Deschanel. The name might not ring a bell but even the girl I work with who is what I call a passive listener (of music) recognized her voice after a few times through. She played Jovie in the movie Elf and sang Baby, It's Cold Outside and Santa Claus is Coming to Town in the movie. She's also been in about three dozen other movies (give or take) and she is the little sister of Bones star, Emily Deschanel.
"Him" is Merge Records' golden child, M. Ward, who has only acted in one movie, The Go-Getter, the soundtrack for which carries several of his songs. If you are a fan of indie rock, you know his name. If you watch television, you've heard his voice in a couple of different commercials and on the Sopranos and Eli Stone.
Wow....I totally didn't mean for that to come out sounding like a commercial. I just really dig their sound. They have kind of an alt-country meets 50's pop thing going on.
I also really like Charlotte Sometimes, Lykke Li, Eric Hutchinson and Babyshambles (a Pete Doherty vehicle that is not really new but new to me).

Yes, I've heard of Zooey and thought she did a great job singing in Elf. She is very talented. Have not heard of M. Ward, but I have a feeling I will like She & Him so I will look them up tonight. Thanks for the tip! And the commercial was great - you are a good seller!
As for Babyshambles, I don't think I can bring myself to listen to them because I can't support anything Pete Doherty does. He makes me ill. But I'm definately interested in hearing Charlotte Sometimes just because their name is a Cure song!
Thanks so much for the good tips!

Well, he's not exactly NEW, but I'm really enjoying David Cook's (last year's American Idol champ) debut album. The first single, "Light On" is really good, and I'm also love "Come Back to Me" and "Lie to Me". "Permanent" is also really good, but it breaks your heart.
I'd say his album is somewhere in the vein of Chris Daughtry-type music - radio friendly rock. I love it.

I've heard of David Cook just from the entertainment websites and tv, but I don't think I've heard any of his songs yet. I do know who Chris Daughtry is and his music is catchy. I will have to look this up as well. Thank you for the tip!
