I am being published!!!

I received confirmation that I will have a chapter published in a multi-authored book! The book, Be The Star You Are, is for teens. The chapter was initially put into a contest. The first prize was a healthy check and publication in the book. It has taken a while to happen, but the time has arrived. To say I'm excited doesn't come close to the joy flooding through me since the notification arrived! Yippee!

Winning a first prize at this young age is indeed to be admired. You must be really good to stand out from so many entries. I dont think your publication will be here in my country but even then many congratulations on your winning and your first publication. Keep it up.

Thank you for your kind response although I must confess I am not young. I'm sixty-one years old and have been writing for fifty-one of those years. I've had articles published before and have self-published a book of my own, but this is my first request to write a chapter for a book. It's exciting. Hugs, Maggie

Hey sixty one is still young. lol. No matter how many articles get published, when a new one is published, its always a great feeling. And to write a chapter for a book is even more so. All the best and congratulations again.

Wow! thats nice! congrats...What site did you publish your book that way we can read.Or we can buy those books help you out! since my friend have teen kids maybe it would be good to give them us a present.

Hi Maggie, wait to go and congratulations! It sure does feel good doesn't it when somebody recognizes all of your hard work and effort. Writing is a solitary experience often with little feedback from those the read what we write. We write because we like writing, and many of us have a love affair with words and language and general. I guess all of those days you spent looking at a blank page finally paid off. Thank you for sharing your wonderful news with us and you give me hope and inspiration. Don't give up. You only get better by continuing to write and insist on getting real critiques on your work. There are places online that give the real thing, but you have to be tough enough to take suggestions as help and not personal attacks. I hope you will consider continuing writing. Although being published is nice, most of us write for the pure joy of the craft. Good luck!

Congratulations! It's always great to be published and even more so when you are paid! Do you enter contests often? I frequently read the magazine "Poets & Writers" (they also have a website, by the way), and they list literary contests. Since you seem to be on a roll with your win, you might want to check this out. I wish you much success and hope that you sell a lot of books. Is young adult writing what you do...or are you a generalist? All the best, and much success.

Most items I've published have been on memories of my family, but I also write children's books and stories, horror stories (okay, they don't quite go together, but I love diversity!), and occasionally stories with twisted, unexpected endings.
