Personally, i take the expected course and simply read stuff once or twice to understand it. However, i have heard of people using some strange methods that are really effective. For example, my friend records all of his definitions by voice and plays them back on his Ipod while he runs at the gym. What are your methods of studying?

My study method is as simple as yours where i read to the books and study the materials till i understand the process and then i write it in my mind in my own words so that i will be able to reproduce it and that makes me fit for the question and i move in to the next question and i will go through it and do the same and per day i will not read much since it will confuse me more than helping me out and i think thats simple...

When I was still in my primary and secondary level as a student, I make it a habit to sit in front where I can listen carefully to what my teacher is lecturing on us. I take down notes on some important terms. Then when I go home and finish helping in the house, I go to my room to study my notes. I first do my assignment and after that, I memorize all important terms we learn on that day. Then, I browse on next topics and study also about those so I can have a background on the next discussion.I have that attitude until I go to the tertiary level. However, because the more I grow older, the more I read books, I had learned additional styles in learning. For example, in terms of memorization, I learned how to use mnemonics so to easily remember so many terms. Sometimes, after studying a certain topic, I test myself if I really understood the topic. I make a journal myself and write there all that is in my mind regarding certain topic. I also record some lectures through voice recording on my mobile phone. I find it very useful especially if I am bored. Sometimes, I compose a song regarding a certain term. Because of that, I can easily remember certain terms which others find difficult.Studying in science is also so fun for me. I am an inquisitive type of person. I always looks for explanation for certain phenomena or situation. Because not all the people around me seems to know everything I am asking to them, I do my own research on it. I read books and surf the net. And all I can say is that, once a person is really interested to learn certain things, he or she will learn it easily. I can say so because I had proven it true on my own self. I am and endless seeker for knowledge and I love discovering new things, that is why I love learning very much.

Wow, thanks for such a great response, and i truly admire how dedicated you are to studying and wanting to learn. I also admire your enthusiasm to go out and try to understand the world around you and i completely agree that people are willing to study things that interest them more often. Personally, i am into biology, and i really don't mind studying it. However, when it comes to British Literature or Shakespeare, i usually wait until the last day to study.
Thanks for such a good response.

My way of studying would be reading through notes, then highlight and simplify it, draw little diagrams everywhere. Then try doing past papers, to see how much i know and remember.
One effective way i find to make things stick, is to teach others, like explain to others. By explaining things, i'll be able to know, what i really know and what i don't really know, so i can go check it up :)

Yeah, i have tried telling other people what i know and it is effective. Sometimes i do word associations to remember a lot of definitions. I usually use words that stick out. Thanks for the good advice.

Reading before lecture even if you don't totally understand and when you go to class you things start making sense. Then go back to your notes and book to highlight what you think was important for the class. Then later on you can study these notes for the final exam
