I remember as a child my siblings and I used to chase butterflies for fun. There were so many and they were so beautiful.
These days I cant help but notice the significant reduction in the population of these litte beauties. I am no longer used to seeing them in droves and actually watch as they their cocoon goes through its changes. I am instead pretty much like a child when I do see a beautiful butterfly go by or when I see a bunch of them I get excited.
This is just so sad. I used to just sit on my verandah (porch) and watch as they come to feed in the garden. I miss them.
I am dying to get the garden going again. Hopefully I'll see far more of them then.
Do you see much butterflies these days?

Now that I think about it, no I haven't seen many butterflies in recent years. I suppose it is all part of the way we are polluting the world, destroying ecosystems, and not considering the consequences.
It is similar with birds, you don't see half as many birds around as there used to be. Down to the same reasons I guess.

I see a lot of butterflies, just not in my backyard so much. We are currently planning a backyard garden that will attract more butterflies.
I just created a discussion asking people if they know what I should plant to attract more butterflies.
I would love to have more butterflies so I can get better pictures for my blogs.

Wow... Lucky you. I really miss them. The sight of these beautiful creatures just tend to bring me such calm and inner tranquilty.
I wish you all the best with your garden . The butterflies were particularly attracted to the marigolds in my garden.

hi tjades there are certain times of the year when the
monarch butterflies migrate to Mexico I saw them when I was waiting for the local library to open. There were thousand of them and they had stopped to rest on the branches of a large tree. when I came out of the library they were again shaped into v shape as thousands of them flew past on there way to Mexico. I truly wished I had had a camera to snap some shots of them. They were so beautiful in their flight pattern. 98

Last year we went to a Butterfly Garden, it was really amazing to see a lot of them flying around. It is really a beautiful sight with so many of them in different types, colors and sizes flying and catching up with each other. I really appreciated the beauty and the harmony they shown us.
Currently to where we are staying we don't see any butterflies, I don't know maybe because there are not much flower around.
