I am not a morning person and in an effort to at least be on time I set my clock to 15 minutes fast. But it never seemed to work. I always have that at the back of my mind that its 15 mins ahead and get ready according to that.
So guys, are you keeping your clock fast too? Does it help?

Hi dear Mou
well u already have replied to the discussion in ur post.
i have same conclusion that no need to set ur clock ahead of time so that u make it to work or any place on time, as when u set clock ahead, u know it and whenever u watch at the time, ur mind automatically subtract "the differnce" and u know exactly how much time u have
So my all clocks are are per Standard time
Take care

Yes I used to when I was at work and when I used to get the Children up for School but the main reason for that was I needed some time alone first thing in the Morning, to have a coffee in peace and then a Shower then I would get the Children up I would always get up an Hour before them well a bit more lol as my Clock used to be set 15 minutes fast

Yes, my watch is ten minutes fast. I dare not do the same with the clocks at home as it would make everybody’s schedule go haywire. But it certainly helps in the morning rush hour, especially for office, if my watch is ten minutes ahead of my office clock.

Good, it works for you. I guess you are very punctual otherwise and you would have done it without keeping it fast.

When did you notice that I keep my clock faster by 10 mintues.......LOL!I am the one who keeps all my clocks at home, be it wall clocks, table clocks or mobile clock ahead of 10 mintues (except one clock, which gives the correct time). It always helps me to discipline myself and I finish my jobs on schedule. Though I am aware that my watch is 10 mintues ahead, but it allows me extra ten minutes to sum up my task.
Quite interesting discussion!

Hehehe Ive always done that and I think it does help somehow for me. Sure I wont be really early but at least Id be on time. Yeah knowing that the clock is in advance kinda spoils it but Ive always felt uneasy if I dont know the exact time.
Currently, I use 3 watches, 2 would be from my phones and one is my wristwatch. My wristwatch is a bit useless because it doesnt tell the time correctly even if I set it. It would just be extremely late or extremely advanced I use it because I feel uneasy without it. The clock on one of my phones is 20 minutes in advance and thats the one I use as my alarm clock. Id feel really lazy getting up in the morning so I use that extra 20mins to just hit the snooze button.LOL! The clock on my other phone would tell the correct time and thats the phone that I go anywhere with.
So I guess having different clocks with different times for different purposes works for me.^_^

So, the wrist watch is a an accessory without which you cannot do without. The cell phone one you keep fast for alarm purpose and the other one for giving you the right time! Good! lol..
I used to do all kinds of tricks as a student and keeping the clock fast used ti give me a feel good feeling and even when you know that its fast the extra time you could afford to roll on bed after the alarm was amazingly loved! lol..

No, I am just like you. That would not help me at all. I like for the clock to tell the correct time and not try to psych me out. However, we live on a time zone, so if we go west a few yards we are an hour different time. Sometimes when we meet friends for lunch it gets confusing, but at least we are usually an hour early rather than an hour late.

Hi Mimpi,
We have set the clock 15 minutes fast. We are doing it for the sake of our son, so that he will be ready in time when school van comes. In my opinion it works even if we know the clock is running fast, on the first look we are looking the time on clock and about the exact time, it comes only on a second thought. For us it works so we are going with the same method. I know many other people using the same method and according to them also it works. May be it depends on individuals.

Hi Mimipi, I usually have mine set at the correct time, I think the one in the car runs a bit faster but that is okay as I usually arrive before time if making a journey. I am not a morning person either but usually pretty good at timekeeping. Huggles. Ellie :D

i'm not a morning person too!
i always set my alarm 2 hours before the time i should get up! :)
because i know that i'm not the type of person who'll immediately jumps out of the bed, i give myself time to snooze off a bit. Well, yes, 2-hours' time is hardly a bit, it's sometimes an hour 30 minutes, or an hour, but definitely not minutes awas :)
as for setting my clock ahead, well, the digital one i had in my room is at least 20minutes faster than the one in the cell phone. And the one in the cell phone is at least 5 minutes faster than the one in the office.
Does it work? I have to say, hardly! lol. I think it's because i know that the clock is faster, so instead of giving me some sort of 'hurry' feeling, it sorta give me reason to be lazy for another minute because i know that my clock is faster.
For now, i woke up better when someone wakes me up and not the alarm. Maybe because i cant snooze a person like i did to the alarm ;)
Ugh, my explanation doesnt come out understandable. Hope you do understand, though :P

It's perfectly understandable and I totally agree with you Flower. It hardly ever worked for me, except for a feel good thing that keeps me happy.

I do not keep my clock fast than actural. I think this will confuse me.
I'm a punctual women and do anything ahead of sheadule. I would not like to be waited. I think that we should depend on ourselves not on the clock.
If we have no punctual concept the clock can not help us.

I have did the same way as you do, to set my clock a few minutes ahead, the reason is same, be on time. Somehow is work on me :) I know with doing this way, actually not right. We must discipline, how to prepared, like what time to go some place. If we practice this, i think we don't have to set our clock fast ahead (we can't change time). Happy days.

Hi there mimpi!
I don't do that and I'm not sure if it will really help me. We have a clock in our living room which was advance by twenty minutes but not set on purpose. I still think that it's advanced.

Hey mimpi. I used to keep my clock fast so that I won't be late. But it turned out that it didn't work and I was later than ever since I knew it's several minute earlier than the actual time, lol. So now I keep my clock and watch on time and that's better coz I can see the time juat at a glance without doing some little math. I guess it depends on different ppl. To me, it doesn't work but like you, ppl like to set the time fast.

Hey mimpi! I am not a morning person either! I have a girlfriend
who always has her bathroom clock set to a half hour faster
than all her other clocks and it used to confuse me when I
would look at that clock! She would do it so she would get
herself ready for work faster! It didn't work for her either
because she also knew that it was a half hour faster so it
defeated the purpose! If you know that you set the clock faster
your going to figure the time in so it isn't going to help
because your not going to pay attention to it knowing that it
isn't really that time anyway!

Yes, it hardly works and you just kill more time, counting the real and time and if you are weak in maths, you just have had it!

Woo!!~~It never work to me too!!~
I used this method before, but it doesn't useful to me.Because I'll will calculate the right time. Now,I enforce myself to work as I have planned, then I don't need to set my clock fast.So I think maybe you should find another way that useful to you!

I have one clock,(the one with the alarm) set 30 minutes ahead. I know it is fast, but it gives me time to wake up before actually getting out of bed. The alarm is set for 4, it actually goes off at 3:30, and I don't get up until 5:30. I don't really have to get up that early any more, it is just habit, but when I did have to, yeah, it worked. Once I am awake, I don't usually go back to sleep, or hit the snooze button to shut the radio off. I have to get out of bed, and walk around to the other side of the room to do that. If I have to do that, I may as well stay up and get the day started.*L*

Yes, it does help in warming up thing and I find it useful for that if not waking up early.

*LOL* So, why don't you just set your clock back 15 minutes instead of ahead by that much? Then, when you look at it, you will see the time, then you will remember that it is slow. Maybe that will do the trick.
