I think all of you must have read this news today that performing two Google searches from a desktop computer can generate about the same amount of carbon dioxide as boiling a kettle for a cup of tea, according to new research. Till now we used to do it freely, but now this has become a matter of concern.

If that is the case, just imagine what posting and responding to discusions here does. Or, how about watching a TV program. Does this story consider whether you have a flat screen monitor or what is fast becoming an outdated CRT monitor? What about the size of the kettle and whether the stove is gas or electric. There are a lot of variables to consider for a story to make such a claim. Well I guess my answer has generated the equivalent of 40 or 50 kettles by now.

I guess if that's the result of latest research then probably one can imagine how much carbon dioxide has been produced.

Well if this is true then all search engines need to be closed, people should not use computers or do any online works, the entire system would collapse..
What about the 211072 members in mylot, how much carbon di oxide they produce?
Thanks for sharing.
Welcome always.
Cheers.
