Iranian HATE CRIME?

Yes, it is true. Engaging in behavior that we in the U.S.A. would have to regard as a 'hate crime', some Iranians burn Barack 0bama in effigy by burning posters of his image. In the U.S.A this would be a hate crime. Is it still a hate crime if done in Iran? Don't the Iranians have good reason to hate the U.S.A.? Isn't justified rage not the same as hate? http://news.yahoo.com/nphotos/slideshow/photo//090113/ids_photos_wl/r1645453159.jpg/ I say that a hate crime is a hate crime no matter where it occurs. This is a hate crime. I did not vote for 0bama, but I would never wish him harm or pretend the same. What do you say?

Hello Red, Might this hatred directed at the "first black president" give all those apologists -- who have blamed everything on George Bush -- a new perspective? Hmmmm, I wonder. Is burning an Obama effigy a 'hate crime'? To the best of my knowledge there is no such thing as a "love crime". As such, the actions of any nation (including ours) applying special defining characteristics to "hate crimes" is a double-standard, in my opinion. Do the Iranians have good reason to hate the USA? Only if the USA is given the same latitude in hating Iran. Terribly unproductive, and distinctly unwise, no matter how one looks at it, wouldn't you say?

Just think, some Iranians and one .jpg image did more to tell the left in the U.S.A. what conservatives have been saying than all the conservatives put together.

Funny what a single photograph can do, eh? Yup, excellent point, Red! I wonder how long it will be before the throngs of fans accept the fact that they were snookered with a line of malarky about the rest of the world changing their stripes -- if only Obama were elected? That's the power of marketing -- duping the masses without the masses being aware that their psyche's have been toyed with. OK, now what was the difference between Psych Ops and Guerilla Marketing again??? Doh! Thank you very much for the BR, Red.

I don't believe in the concept of "hate crimes". That path leads to Fascism and criminalization of speech and thought. Burning in effigy has a long history as a political statement, and has been practiced by various groups for centuries.
