Hot or Cold Milk on Your Cereal?

Is there a breakfast discussion on MyLot yet? Oh well, I wanted this to be about life because hot (actually warm) milk on my Corn Flakes brought back sweet memories.
Growing up in Australia, my cousins and I all lived together in their big, beautiful, country home (complete with chickens and a veranda that meandered all the way around), and we loved having breakfast together. Usually we had Corn Flakes or Wheat Bix with warm milk. It really did a tummy good.
So I had warm milk with my flakes this morning and thought of my cousins. We used to give names to all the flowers and trees in the forest behind our home. Years later we discovered there really was a Joshua tree. Anyhow, do you like hot or cold milk on your cereal?

Its cold milk with cereals for me. Especially if the cold milk is from carton milk. But sadly the price of carton milk has gone up tremendously from where I come from so I am using milk powder instead. Will mix the milk and put it in the fridge and take it later. Not as yummy but at least still cold milk with cereal...

I love eating powdered milk, though it does stick to the roof of my mouth.

I am not the biggest fan of cereal either way, but if I will have any, I prefer it with cold milk. Warm milk doesn't really work for me, at all :)
When I was growing up I lived in a few countries but the continental breakfast was the norm in most of them, cereal was not a choice that common and I never really got used to it. I would prefer toast with juice, an yogurt, or even the soup from diner last night, but not cereal LOL

Hello my friend gtargirl Ji,
I am sure milk should always be taken Hot and that to with cerals, it must be hot. If i take cold milk, I will vomit it and make verybody's life miserable by making lot of noise. I am happy taht you remember your good old days, if one rememebrs old things, one will un-tie many knots in the system and blood would flow correctly and thereby it will make health good. may god bless you and have a graet time.

Definitely cold! I have to admit though that I never tried hot milk on cereal before. And I've eaten a lot of cereal in my time! LOL I can see how it can make the tummy feel good. When I eat oatmeal or drink hot tea I get that good same feeling in my tummy.

Woah... gtargirl... you must find so many myloters are cereal lovers...
and im belong to this group also. I have no time to cook rice and fish or meat in the morning, so i prefer breakfast go with cereal or bread...
Anyway, i like corn flakes with warm milk.
The milk that im using here is the sweetened milk in the can.
I pour them in the bowl, and put warm water there. And i add my cereal corn flakes.
It seems that im gonna give you recipe... but thats the way im making my morning cereal... hhaha...
I dont like cold milk. Its like im not going to eat them...
There's no cereal that taste good for me if im gonna eat them in cold...
my gosh... i want to eat cereal, while im also drink my milk...
in this way, i can drink milk and eat cereal and mixed them into one.

I have never ever liked hot milk on cereal of any kind, (apart from porridge) the thought of eating hot milk on cornflakes makes me feel sick it just goes so soggy. The same with weetabix or any kind of cereal!!

Actually I have never heard of warm milk on cereal and since I'm accustomed to cold milk, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like it.
PS. Why yes, there are Joshua trees. Here is a picture of one:

I am all about cold milk on my cereal. I just never really even thought about warming the milk first. Usually, I eat cereal when I am too lazy to prepare anything more labor-intensive for breakfast. Warming the milk first would involve more preparation...and clean up. :)

Yes, warming the milk was very labor-intense. LOL. I eat cereal because I'll overeat if I have anything else.

Yah, you know...I gotta get out the saucepan, put it on the stove, put the milk in the pan, AND turn on the heat. Then, I need to watch it to make sure it doesn't burn. Not to mention the fact that I still need to pour the cereal into the bowl! Sheeesh. Of course, there is always the chance that I will overheat the milk. That means that I would have to wait for it to cool!!! Now that I have heated the milk, I need to clean the pan AND the cereal bowl instead of just the bowl.
That's just too much work to eat cereal... :)

i don't usually eat cereals fro breakfast but my hubby always use cold milk in his cereal. I only eat cereals once in a while and I never tried the hot milk. Maybe I will try that tomorrow. I have cornflakes here, I will mix it in hot milk tomorrow for breakfast. I plan not to have brunch tomorrow. I want to have separate breakgast.

Your childhood sounds like straight out of the farmhouse in any children’s book…which child would not like to grow up in the lap of nature with a lot more children for company. I’m sure you have lovely tales of those times.
Coming back to milk though…it has to be warm milk if the cereals are to be soaked properly. I don’t mind crunchy cereals, but somehow warm milk goes better with it.

I do have some wonderful memories. It's funny how having cereal just brings all these warm and fuzzy feelings back. Anyhow, thanks for dropping by, my friend.

I am allergic to milk so I cannot use it so IF I want cereal I eat it dry. I love cereal though and I will take it over a bag of chips anyday. I do not care what cereal it is either.

Oh, very interesting. I don't think I've ever tried eating dry cereal. Sounds like it would become a sort of snacky food.

Hey,
I usually like to have cold milk in the summer time where it is like 40 degrees celcius or above sometimes, and love to have warm milk in the winter time on my cereal. It all depends on the weather really. Happy Lotting!

It's so true. The weather really sets the mood. It's hot, so we drink and eat cold stuff. It's cold, so of course, we love to have warmth in our bellies.
