I always feed my dog in her own bowl, unless she's getting a treat. I've always felt that not feeding them in their own bowl makes them learn to beg, or worse, pester me when I'm eating. She's a very large dog, so I have one of those elevated bowl sets for the food and water. She knows when it's time to eat and makes regular trips to look at her bowl, and then me, if I'm a little late lol. (She thinks she can psychically will me to feed her hahaha) My dog has never bit me, or any one else, because she's been trained since a pup that that is not acceptable behaviour. From the time she was little I taught her that the only way she would get a treat from my hand was if she was patient and gentle and obeyed the 'stay' command. I figured that was a necessary lesson as I knew that eventually my little grandsons would probably be giving her a treat (or their unfinished sandwich or something.)

No he gets his food given in a dog bowl I dont have time to hand feed him his full dinner besides I dont hand feed my kids im not about to give the dog that luxury! He gets treats given by hand and he was quickly taught to take the treat gently!

when it times for my dogs meal, i put their food on a plate. but from time to time i feed them on my hands. it feels good when my pet lick my hands for the food that's on my hand. it feels like even for the last bit of food that's on my hand they appreciate it. it's also a great bonding time for you and for your pet. just make sure that you pet is not the too aggressive type. or they might bite you as well

I pour the food items on the plate. I could feed him with my own hands, but that would be pampering the dog and I consider that is not good for the emotional maturity of the dog. We should not pamper animals . Some people out there do nothing but pamper the pets and then the pets start getting seated on their heads.
