Oh there's lots of stuff. The trick is that you'll need to make them yourself. Most stuff sold in the G.E. is sold at or slightly over it's alchemy value. If you buy stuff to alchemy at it's normal price you'll end up taking a big loss. When you can make your own mithril items & maple bows or better then High alchemy becomes really profitable.

thanks i tried that before and to add more magic expierence one i went to mining guild with a fire staff and a bunch of nature runes and mined mithril and coal and superheated them then wheni had a bunch of mithril bars i went to varrock and smithed them to the best mithril item i could and i then high alchemyed them. i will try the fletching method when i becomee a member.

the only thing i found worth high alching in the non-member world was steel platebody. it gave 2500gp for each platebody... mith platebody would be better but i cannot smith it yet... but if you can, follow the superheat, smith and alch procedure as told by the other users... but that requires a world where the mine in falador does not have too many people doing the same thing.

i haven't been mining lately so i don't know how many people are there... plus there is another big problem... i had more items than i could handle in a non-member bank space, and then my account got hacked and someone took out all the runes and money into my character's inventory. good thing i recovered my account before he could do anything else with my account... but now i just have 3 free spaces in my inventory and i cannot bank my items anymore. now my account is limitted to the clan wars area where i play the safe PvP for my combat.

if it makes you feel better, there is alot more to enjoy in runescape even in the non-members world, and it doesn't require money at all. try to raise your skills without spending money, that is how i had done it and it was fun and i have almost all my skills at atleast level 60. however, i must say that smithing and alching or selling yews brings the quickest money in the non-member world.
it's been a while for me since i bothered to make money lol. it's only when i am about to become a member that i work on this. and after the membership ends, i end up having atleast 1 or 2 million more than i had before.

Yew's aren't worth that much when alched! Better get 1k yew and withdraw them all on note and then sell them for like 300-400 gp each!

You can check Tipit or Runehq item database for all item high alch values ;o
As everyone has said, there are very very few items you can get on GE that will make profit without making some of it yourself.
The few items I know that will allow you to lose the least money are
Yew longs
Green d'hide bodies
Steel platebodies
castlewars bracelets
Air/earth/water/fire battlestaves (actually possible to make a little cash, but you can only get 100 every 4 hours from GE...)
