Well, if you are not familiar with this it is a way to legally get married and not even be present at the civil marriage proceedings! Sounds odd right? It is definitly not traditional but indeed is not a scam. There are 4 states that perform these. California, Colorado, Texas, and my favorite Montana. I will explain more about Montana a little later. Now each one of these states have a few different guidelines but for the most part it real simple. No residency requirements and no travel. Thats right! Say you live in Florida and your loved 1 is in California. He or she can go to the court house(in Cali)and apply and you can be married without traveling to California! The designated "bride/groom" which is the stand in proxy takes the oath and vows in your absence. It is 100% legal in all states except Iowa as long as it takes place in a jursidiction where it is legal. I am not sure why Iowa does not except it but any how now with Montana. Montana is the ONLY state that performs Double Proxy Marriages!! Again, no travel. The catch is to perform the DOUBLE you have to either 1, be in the Active Military or 2 be a resident of Montana. I believe the single can still be performed like the example I gave before. Now for the average couple this would probably not make any sense but for extraordinary circumstances this could be a great resource. There are several companys out there that offer assistance with paperwork and such and what I know personally and have researched the cost is around $900. I have asked many people and almost all that I have talked to were not familiar with such a thing so I decided to post here with all you great mylotters. What are your thoughts on this and would you think it would be a good idea or does it take away from the tradition on marriage?? Again, I have a little personal experience with that so of course all questions are welcomed and appreciated!! Thanks and I look foward to hearing from you!

I think getting married by proxy is a good way nowdays, although people used this way frequently before,it's still a good way to solve the morden marriage problems.not all the old ways are the worst.it's legal and moreover it solves a lot of social problems.one thing you need to think over is that the proxy can be trusted, then the other girl or man can be trusted too.let the stranger be a proxy, that will likely be a scam

I agree ktosea. Yes this is not something new and has been going on for a long time. Thanks for pointing that out!
