... what tools do affiliate marketers need the most?

I am a newbie in terms of internet marketing, or affiliate marketing in general. I just signed up for a data-entry even, but eventually realized I have been guided in a host of online marketing opportunities I never imagined I would be involved in before. I want to start right, that's why I want to have the right tools, aside from the advises that will be relevant to the whole affiliate marketing task in general. Just to mention, I do web development and fortunately I manage to create one tool I myself am using, and am willing to share to anyone interested. But for me not to be labeled as a mere marketer/sales person, I'll refrain from mentioning what it is. Eventually I may make those tools to be mentioned and either offer them as free service or for a very minimal fee.
