It is very very shocking news that great Mathew Hayden is retiring from all sort of cricket. It is a great loss of world cricket. It is definite that Australia will be more weaker. The great southpaw had the world record of scoring highest runs in test, overtaking Lara. Though Lara overtook finally.
To me he was an ultimate aggressor. And his batting is always treat to watch.
We must not forget him for his contribution to cricket.
Wish him a happy retired life.

hii suman.. ya for sure he was one of the best openers test cricket ever saw, and his retiremennt is another step in taking forward the end of aussie dominance from world cricket. But its good news for Indian bowlers i think..lol. As he has better record against India than any other country. But its also there that he was going theough a really rough patch.. his form was also a major reason, why Australia lost to SA. World cricket will surelly miss a cricketer of his caliber.. also one can't forget his opening pair with gilly in onedayers, they both simply ruled the odi's for quite some time.

Your right thats a big loss but i doubt Australia will be weaker because of it. He has been letting the team down so it was like australia was playing with 10 players instead of 11 and that was letting the team down but he used to be a very good player. We still have brad hodge who could more then do his job as opener and david warner could be slotted in if they neesded a spark.

Well, Mathew Hayden for me is one of the greatest opener of all time. Though, I am not surprised with his decision right now, since I was expecting it from him. Yes, recently a lot of great cricketers in Australia are retiring, since they are aging out. But, you know, its tough to fill these guys places. First Bevan retired and then Warne, Mcgrath, Martyn, Langer, Gilchrist and now Hayden. Sad to these these big guys go. But they are really a boon and entertainer in both forms of the cricket. As far as Hayden goes, he is really a treat to any opposition in the world and taking his wicket was something like an head bang for most of the top bowlers. He have achieved a lot. Even though, he have started playing International cricket a bit late, his records are really impressive. Its sad to see him go finally.

Indeed sad that another good crcicket will not be seen in action.
But certainly not shocking, this was on expected lines. Of course IPL contracts makes it easier for people to take these decisions faster. Players make much more money in ipl than their national contracts for just few days of cricket.
But with hayden gone, that much charm is out of the australian team. He had a towering persona matched by his aura in the crease. Hayden never let any bowler relax & used his reach & power to good effect.
He was even called butcher by some of his mates. He often butchered Indian Bowling.By his retirement, cricket has also lost a great character.
Despite his infectious smile , hayden always remained in the limelight for his strange comments. He sympathied with harbhajan when whole of australia was against bhajji. again he went against the public opinion by supporting Ponting & calling India a third world country as an excuse for slow over rate. these statements proved that he always listened to his heart.
his decision to retire is also for the same reason. We will all miss you Hayden.
