Because people do not believe a problem is real until it happens to them!I have long been campaigning for equal treatment for men in general and fathers in particular and people laugh at me until it happens to them - after separating, men suddenly realise that they have little or no rights to see their children and it is all subject to a woman's veto. This unfairness does not sink in when someone else tells them about it - only when it happens to them do they realise how many unfairnesses there are.
It is a shame as it is then too late.
It is better to campaign to prevent this unfairness than wait until it happens but there you are people don't care about issues until it is personal!
