Hi there, how do you feel when some V.I.P.s, are given a direct entry for a Darshan of the god as it is happening in some Hindu Temples. Recently Mr.Vijay Mallaya of F1 racing fame was given such a darshan by Tirupathi Tirumala Devasthanams, while other lesser mortals were waiting in the queue for more than 6 to 8 hours. Many such famous temples give preference to VIPs and others. Do you think it is right. Second is it right on part of the Temple Authorities to charge a rate and ask the people pay up so that they can go inside the temple quickly. Your responses.

I don't know much about this.
The temple must be open to all, since it is a house of God. the rate charged should eb the same, whether it is for a farmer or for an industrialist. However, if the rich man wants to make alarge donation to the temple, that is quite another matter.

Its one of the reasons I don’t visit any temple. You will see these in every temple worth its name in every corner of our country. It has less to do with god and more to do with money and our inclination to pander to the powerful, to do their every bidding. It’s a total waste of time standing in the queue for so long. God can be better served by doing something worthwhile for others, during those hours.

Thanks for the response Sudipta, but I feel as Hindus who feel for their religion we should start to do something about this. This special dharsan has reached such epidemic propositions that almost every temple has started to have a special queue and only when we pay that amount, we are allowed inside and otherwise we are asked to see the holy deity from a distance. As good Hindus we must raise our voice against this.
