When the job is too boring or after lunch, I will become very sleepy. Sometime I will doze off in my seat. Many people give me different solution to prevent of this. For example, go to washroom to wash the face, drink a cup of coffer, eat less for the lunch. What will you do prevent feel sleepy at the office?

lol.... ^_^..... Just breath slowly and gently just feel the air going in and out your body..... Inhale thru your nose feel the oxygen going and fill-up your lungs and and feel the freshness of oxygen going into the brain.... Exhale thru the mouth slowly until the air in your diaphragm or solar plexus emptied.... You can also try meditations instead sleeping out.... lol

You are lucky. We people are hardly finding time to have our lunch even. Mostly we'll be caught in a meeting during lunch time or somewhere out at our sites. When we come back for lunch, everybody would have finished their lunch and doing something. By the time we finish our lunch, those guys will be waiting for us. Occasionally, I find some time without any work. At that time, I'll just inform the next table guy and take a walk around our office.

I am afraid I can't walk around in the office. My supervisor do not like to anybody walk around and seems nothing to do. If he feel you are free, then he will come to your seat and keep asking you question.

If I can get a good 7 or 8 hours of sleep the night beofre I usualy don't have to worry abut falling asleep at work. Sometimes I only get 5 or 6 with my boys keeping me up, then I will have to extra cups of coffee at work or an energy drink of somekind.

Sometimes if you get up and walk briskly around. Maybe you could go outside for a short walk, especially when it's 4 degrees outside. lol

I think the best way to prevent sleepiness is to do something interest you. Of coz drinking a cup of coffee, streching or walk around your office will keep you awake, but nothing compare to this. Human mind is very focus on thing they like to do. Some people like chatting with others during office hour to keep them awake, help colleagues on their work and etc.So if you are able to find a good activity that really interest you alot (maybe do discussion in mylot) that will keep you alert whole day. Happy Mylotting!!!

Nice topic, this is a tough situation we face especially after a lunch. Well we have a small chat with friends, have a cup of cold coffee and walk to the rest room.

Whenever I am too sleepy, the best solution is to take a short nap. The nap is not more than fifteen minutes and is done during lunch hour only. I will go to the store room where there is a place for lying down. Many other staffs are doing the same thing, that's why there is a place for lying down there. After I get the sleep, it is more refreshing than before I didn't sleep. Just walking or drinking coffee does not work for me if I am too sleepy. It would just give a temporary healing time and then the sleepiness will creep again.

Hi rrobinv! I slam a cup of coffee and splash some cold water on my face if I'm really sleepy. Less lunch is an option too or eating carbs may give you a boost.

Return calls or make some calls, or meet customers. Talking is much better than typing a report or data entry.

I struggle with the same thing almost everyday. And yes it does seem to be true that eating a heavy lunch makes you sleepier. So all that seems to work for me is to have caffeine or sugar in my system. I just recently the other day drunk just a little bit of Mountain Dew and it had me wired and alert for the rest of the work day.
