How do you keep ticks off of dogs

my dogs use revelution monthly but last summer we had problems with ticks getting on them how do I keep them off them ?????

We use tea tree oil as well as the tea tree shampoo. It has a sort of menthol smell to it but it seems to do the trick. Aparently the natural smells and properties of tea tree act as a bug repellant. The best part is that you can avoid using nasty chemicals on your pets.
