I decided to actually plan a meal today. I usually wait til supper time and go to the fridge and see what I've got. Today I decided I wanted lentil stew.
I used 1 cup lentils, a couple of stalks of celery, a couple of carrots, an onion, a little bacon and a handful of dried parsley and enough water to simmer it all til its done. MMMM MMMM MMMM It smells so goooood! Now all I've got to do is make a pan of cornbread and supper will be ready.
Do you like lentil stew? How do you make yours?

I never ate it. It's a new recipe to me. But yes I like green vegetables, and like cooking supper. But generally I do not cook for supper at evening. I cook the whole days' food at morning, and as required refrigerate them and eat accordingly. You must have enjoyed your lentil soup later.

Ooooh, that sounds good. I don't know that I have ever had lentil stew.
C has been finding recipes on line and printing them out, AND getting the stuff and cooking it. Of course, he has asked for my supervision the first few times, but he's actually a pretty good cook!

I learned to make lentil stew for Grampa. He didn't eat much meat but liked to try all different legumes.
I knew C would be a good cook if he'd just try! He has his own ideas about what goes together for seasonings.

What do you mean EEEk! How many times has he watched you make gravy. Help if he asks, and eat it any way if he messes it up.

Yeah, if he would trust himself to play with recipes, instead of going strictly by what the piece of paper says.*L* He's done salisbury steak (what I have been calling smothered hamburgers for years, but couldn't convince him they were the same thing, until he tasted it) and tempura and coconut shrimp. He did a good job on all of it. His next attempt, he says will be chicken fried steak, and he is including the gravy (EEEK!?)

Hello ,
The last few days I have kept it simple with hamburgers and tots one night , and hot dogs , and mac and cheese the other night . Today , I am making seasoned meat balls in rice with mushroom soup poured over it , and sour cream to dip it in . My fiance loves that , and it is very filling , ya know ;) I suppose it is kinda like swedish meatballs

Another dish I haven't thought of cooking for ages. Thanks. I really get in a rut now that it's just me to cook for and nobody else's input.

I don't think I have ever had lentil stew. For dinner I'm going to warm me up a vegetarian corn dog. I like those things. Only 5g of fat, and not that many calories. I can't even tell the difference between them and real, regular corn dogs.

It's almost as good as beef stew. I hope you try it and like it.

I have never made lentil stew, but it sounds pretty good. I have some red lentils I could try that with. I think I have all the other stuff too. Hmmm....dinner idea for tomorrow maybe.
Tonight we are having Broccoli rice casserole with turkey sausage in it. Nothing fancy, just something I threw together. It is in the oven right now actually. I am going to take it out in a few minutes.

Broccoli rice casserole is what I made monday night, but I didn't have any sausage or other meat to put in it. It's good though even without meat of any kind.

I have never made lentil soup, I actually do not like soups or stews.
For dinner, I had made a big pot of spaghetti sauce on Monday, my husband does not like red sauce, so I have enough to last me for a long time. I will have angel hair pasta with it. I am giving my husband leftover chicken marsala from Tuesday night.

OK, fancy names here. Two of my kids have worked in Italian restaurants, but I'm still not sure of recipe names. Isn't chicken marsala cooked in red sauce?

Hey,
My mum ALWAYS makes lentil stew/soup. I don't actually know how she makes but but yea it tastes rather nice. All I know is that the lentils she uses are red I think. Is that the same that you use? Happy MyLotting!

I haven't seen the red lentils. I can get green ones, (or maybe they're more brown than green) and I can get yellow split peas that look something like lentils and taste about the same to me.

It sounds delicious! I have never prepared it, but my grandmother used pineapple and banana. Sounds odd, right? But it was yummy :)
Oh my :( Today I have to work all the evening so lucky me if I can go to a restaurant and eat something before I return work at 7 :S

I have never gotten in the habit of mixing veggies and fruit in one dish, but I know in some areas that is quite common.
You evening doesn't sound like one I envy. Hope you have a nice meal anyway.

Hi There!
My mother asked me that last night. Usually, my mother will cook her specialties every sunday since that is the day that we are all in the house. But last night, my sister is kinda craving for some food. She wants to eat Barbeque and mixed vegetables. It has been a month or so since we had barbeque lunch in our family. My mom is the best when putting some spices before she grill it. I also love the mixed vegetables that she makes... so... since it is my payday today, I told my mom to cook that meal for dinner. I think we have a visitor tonight... she invited her bestfriend to dine with us. lolz... I just think that this is the best time for bonding between families... I can't wait to go home... Yummy Food! Oopppsss... will have to go to supermarket first because I will buy juice or iced tea for us... We run out of beverages at home. hahaha...
Thanks for the discussion! Happy Mylotting and Have a great day! Cheers!
