Here in my country, China. we have varieties of operas: Peking Opera, Qun Opera, Yue Opera, Huangmei Opera, Henan Opera... too many to count. Each opera has its own special music style. They are often performed in the open aie in towns and villages at a village fair as well as in theatres. They used to be very popular but these years fewer and fewer people are interested. Even when an opera is put on in the square for free, not many people watch the play. How are things like in your country? Do you also have opera?

No opera is not popular here among most. The rich seem to enjoy it, but they aren't known for having good taste. My feelings on Opera. its a rich person's country music. Takes no real talent. Listen to it. The actual singing voices aren't very impressive, most sound the same. And the lyrics, well they sound interesting when sung in a foreign language, but put them in your own language (english for me), and you'll go wtf? this is stupid. Its a story, often retarded story, being sung. The only good thing about operas is the show itself. The stage scenes, the costumes, the effects. Take away the awful singing, and it would be so much better.

Thank you for your response, redhotpogo! A Chinese opera is often based on an interesting story and most are instructive. It is shared by both ordinary people and rich people.
