Unfortunately, I have come across a situation where I cant find a receipt that was asked for by a company....after going through oh about 300 papers here and there, in this pile and that...I have decided that I am not organized and I am tired of it!!
with piles of bills to be paid, piles of bills that are paid, this pile of receipts for taxes.....this pile of junk mail, piles of information from one place or another....ahhhh!!!! its enough to drive me nuts!!!!
are you organized, did something happen that made you organized... and how did you do it?

Know what you mean. Just the other day we were looking for two things and we still haven't found them, my husband and I. It's frustrating, argh!

I am horribly unorganized and not completely sure how to get organized. We have been talking about it lately though. With things coming apart at the seams financially, it seems we need to pay closer attention to our bills in the hope of making a difference in our lives. We aren't sure how we will do it, but we have to!

that is how I feel too, if I can get myself and family organized we will be more aware of where money goes and get a better handle on things in our life.

I am to a point organized, but i could probably use an overhaul. I try to write eveything down in my organizer and I have a monthly bill calander where i write down the bills when they need to be paid by and put the new bills in the back of it and the old ones in a folder we have, and we put our receipts in the folder...at least the ones we thing we should. Plus I have envelopes for medical receipts for taxes!!!! It takes alot of work!!!!And i'm not that organized!!!

hey there!as far as it goes for me, i am pretty organised especially as afar as filing goes. I have alphbetically arranged all my files. then , if there is more than one subject per alphabet, I have labeled it A1,A2 and so on. also, i have a handy chart which is something like an index. so depending on the subject, say medical, all i need to do is, look up my chart under M and i know exactly which file to open, whether it is M, M1 M2 or so on. so no mix ups and i have all i need available at a glance.this took just a little bit of careful planning but has made a great difference in all i do and so there is no going through piles and piles to look for just a tiny piece of paper. try this and you'll be surprised how it all falls into place. Good Luck!

You have my shoulders…just let me have yours. Right now there are several mini-piles on my table, each having bits and scraps of paper, recyclable paper, receipts and bills and everything you can think of. Every scrap goes inside one of the piles. Every Friday I make a resolution to myself to clean up my table on a weekly basis and keep it that way and by next Friday, I am back to the self I recognize. Organized…me? I am sure I would lose some vital piece of paper if I ever cleaned up that pile!

LOL, I completely understand!!!
my husband has receipts from his work on a daily basis...gas receipts..store receipts, signed receipts.... and they are in his work truck, his driving vehicle, pockets--piles in the cupboards, by the washing machine!!!!
I have to get organized this year since we do this every year when it is time to file for our taxes --since he is independent we need every receipt we can find--this year we are going to be prepared!!! LOL

I still have a hard time falling asleep knowing things are as clean as I would like them, but with the kids and hubby and everyday crazyness anymore, LOL, I have to take time out for myself or I would go nuts!! LOL

I'm not that organized. I guess I'm organized enough though. I do try and keep things in nice, neat locations where I know that I can find things later. I try to keep shelves clean and I tend to put things back in the same location.
Having small containers to put things in and then labeling them later really does help. Instead of having to dig through things you can just read the label and be done with looking.

that is something I am going to start implementing this year.... making a space for something and labeling it...so that is all that goes in there and we can find it a year later when we need it....LOL

I'm organized, for some reason I have always been this way. I have a folder for everything. I even have a folder on each kid. We are down to 3 kids so it is getting easier with that too.
With mail, I go through it right away and throw the junk away. Incoming bills go into my calender where I write in on the date what and how much is due. Paid bills go into a file. It just makes it so much easier to know where things are. I guess I had to just be organized with a big family and it has stuck.
Now to bad I couldn't get that organized with my books and stuff. LOL!

i am pretty organized in most things, but alas, my hubby pays the bills and while is organized in bill paying, he is not with papers and the like.
i have a large craft area and am quite organized in that area. i usually take time about once a week to clean it.

Hey there, I am probably the most unorganized person you will meet who likes organizing. Bottomline is, I never carry out my plans and I always plan so much and then not following the plan. So I am very unorganized. I once thought I would make it a point to plan my day in the detail every night but if you are not discipline, nothing works.

Oh yeah I'm organized! One year I had the lovely experience of being audited on my taxes. That was enough for me to get organized real quick!
I have a small file cabinet in my computer room. I have different files for all the things you mentioned and I make sure I put them there right when I get home or check the mail or whatever the case is. I never ever wait or put it on the table until I have time. I make time right there on the spot. It takes some getting used to but you'll never regret it once you get into the habit!
Good Luck!

Hello There!
I was like that before... ahem.. actually, a little bit of that until now. Before, when I was in college, I have tons of ballpens... I love ink pens... I can't take an exam or someting without using my favorite pen but no matter how I like it, I always lose it at home... i could put them into my things then i really can't find it... Other thing is the study papers that I have plus the receipt from the store... It is piled up in several boxes!! I remember my mom scold me because I spent a day looking for my authenticated birth certificate that she got for me in the city hall. I have to screw 10 paper boxes to be able to find it.
So, I figure out that I have to place all the stuff that I really did. I bought 3 sets of clear book and boxes then I put there all I need... I separate all the important documents in one filer then put the other things in the other boxes... but I still mess up sometimes... lolz... but I am trying hard to be organize as much as possible. lolz.
Thanks for the discussion! Happy Mylotting and Have a great day!

I am organised also and unorganized also. I organize things very well but on the contrary I can not keep the things organized for a long time. I try and plan these which are very much liked by the people. But after sometime these things die. I can not maintain the same for long.

Hey,
I usually am not that organized, most of the time at least. It really depends, when I want to be organized then I will but when I don't care, I am a mess. There are sheets of papers everywhere, books everywhere, a mess. Happy Lotting!

Well, im not really the one who organises my receipts and everything, my mum usually, does, and she keeps them in does big binder folders in date order. And also sorted out by what is what, like bank statements in one folder or everything that has to do with the bank in one folder etcetc. I find that really convenient =D So i'm starting to organise my own receipts and things now =D

I am organized.. I hate walking into my bedroom and seeing piles of papers all over my desk. Usually if I get a letter in the mail I automatically open it and if it is unnecessary I shred it or trash it. If it is a bill I have to pay I have a file folder and I file it in there and I keep track of when it due by writing it on my calender. The filing system works great for me because I place everything in there by each company that i have bills for. As for receipts after taking them out of my purse and place them in a folder and keeping on one of the selves of my desk after 30 days I see I don't need it I trash or shred them.
