hey guys, I have a few questions about mylot ratings...why is may rating so low first of all? I've always tried to be helpful on here but i guess people aren't rating my responses well?? and secondly, does this affect my earnings on mylot at all or is it just my credibility that's harmed??

It affects neither your earnings nor your credibility on here. Lots of great mylotters have really low numbers in their stars, mostly from people that just seem to get their kicks by finding every discussion they start and rate them negative. Don't let the ratings worry you, just have fun mylotting

Hello fwidman,
i didn't expect from a person with high points that the discussion rating system is not known to him?
Ok, let's not look in the guidelines and not in the ToS, just have a look in the FAQs of myLot and you'll find questions about the Discussion Rating System.
The answer is it has big effects on the earnings when your star number drops so low because it is calculated in the earnings algorithm!!
Enjoy your best response, even it was wrong

I presume you mean the rating in your star. myLot rating does not affect your earnings, so do not worry about that.
Ratings are affected by the number of positive and negative votes that we get. A member does not have to respond or comment to do so. So it means that a person who does not like your face can rate all your postings as negative. The same people goes for people who strongly disagree with your opinions. Try giving opposite opinions on certain Interests, and your star may fall down forever.
Many old timers on myLot are not concerned with this rating system due to this abuse. The important thing is to start good discussions and make quality responses. Most people can judge whether we are good or not from the contents of our writings.
all the best,
rosdimy

Ups rosdimy,
from where did you get the knowledge that the rating doesn't influence the earnings in myLot?
Please read therefore the FAQs below, especially the questions about the Discussion Rating System.
You'll see clearly that the Star affect the earning situation because it is included in the earning algorithm.
Enjoy your time in myLot!

As a newbie, you shouldn't have to worry about your ratings.
We all got to start to somewhere.
So worrying needlessly about the ratings is not going to encourage you to post more.
Just post like you normally would. And rate other people postively. Ignore the negative post and move on.
From the TOS, the ratings does not go towards your earnings.
But to get too low a rating when you have a high post counts shows that one is not very well liked here.
I have yet to meet someone with a high post count but a low rating. Cos all of us here are very friendly.
Happy mylotting!

ha ha ha ha ha... you too can get a good rating beside your name.
All you have to do is to be active.
And when you are active, you rating will also increase with more post.
Make lots of friends here. Most people here do not rate people with a negative unless the topic or discussion really disgust them.
I am sure you are not one of those fellas.
Keep posting. In no time, you will be looking at a blue star as well!

Hello ahgong,
please look into the FAQs for answers to such questions. The terms of Service are there for general guidelines which things are not in the allowed range of myLot, how they pay, when they pay and so on.
The FAQ state clearly that the star rating is involved into the earnings algorithm of myLot. The lower the rating, the less you'll earn per post. No matter if it's the same length like you wrote or if you write higher quality in it than other members.

One thing I've noticed is that you receive what you give. Your rating stars are given to you by other mylotters rating you up or giving you a thumbs up, so you must rate people's comments too with your seal of approval by giving them a thumbs up. Cheers. and happy mylotting.

Hello jenaisle,
something like this is stated in the FAQs but it seems, it's not that effective. Otherwise i wouldn't drop from my 90 points to below 70 points within 10 days without rating other members negative.
They state in the FAQs, myLot will take care of members who rate too much negative, it will affect their rating too.
So from my understanding it would mean my rating won't get hurt that much but the rating of the person who rates always negative.
Let's see what the future might bring for surprises!

Hello triharder,
your rating or your star number has effects on your earnings.
myLot uses the Discussion Rating System to look which Person will post high quality and which person doesn't post high quality post.
If the members of myLot rate you positive because they think it's a good discussion or a good response/comment, myLot takes this as an higher rating and you jump by one or several points on your star reputation.
If there are other person who make fake votes or rate you down, it seems we can't do anything against it. I think we only could ask myLot for advise because they stated in their FAQs, anyone who wants to game this System will get problems. Their team always will look out for such manipulations (true or not, my points dropped 25 points within 10 days).
Enjoy your time in myLot and try to improve your rating, perhaps by being more active, starting more discussion, giving good advises that many persons rate this response!

simply write good response . try to won the heart of the one who had hosted that discussion. Always not to finish in 1 or 2 sentences. Yes it will absoulutely affect your earnings. More your rating more is your earning . Well my rating is also not too good. BUt i am trying .

Hello nemesis123,
you're right. The earnings get affected by a low star rating (FAQ - Discussion Rating System).
At the moment you don't know your exact rating but i hope you'll see a nice 7 or 8 star rating when you get your star after you pass the 100 points mark.
Enjoy your time in myLot and stay active, rate actively other persons and discussions!

Mylot rating doesn't affect ur earnings. If you have got some of your discussions deleted, then it may reduce your ratings a bit.
If you get more +ve rating than negative ones, your rating will go up.
I am giving you a +ve, hope you reach a higher star in future.
happy mylotting.

Hello mtsandeep,
i don't know who told you about "no effects on earnings when you have a low star number". But it seems it was not directly from myLot admin, am i right?
Please read our myLot FAQs. There nearly all the answers are written for such questions.
In this case it will affect the earning situation of low star number members becuase it is included in the earning algorithm.
Perhaps you never experienced such a low rating or a sudden drop of points (like me from 90 to 67 in 10 days) but it's much harder to earn money with such a low rating!
Enjoy your time in myLot!

Hello jzybabes,
earnings don't decrease when your rating gets lower. They only decrease one day later when discussions get deleted and this can happen each day during the days.
You'll see it when the points are getting lower.
As soon as you reach 100 points you can see your star rating. Take care of it and try to hold it above 8 otherwise it gets difficult to earn "faster" money because it's calculated into the earnings algorithm.

Hello abhi_phoenisthefire,
please write some more information in your posts, so that other user understand you better and give you better rating which will improve your earning situation.
The best is to write more than 6 sentences (around 4 -5 full lines). This will have a positive effect on your earnings day by day.
Hope you enjoy myLot
