Do You Procrastinate?

Are you the type of person who puts things off until the last possible minute, or do you do things as soon as you can? For the most part, I do things right away. I do tend to procrastinate on things that aren't as important though. For example, if we only have two rolls of toilet paper in the house, I will go to the store and get it pretty quick. Don't want to run out of that stuff! LOL. But, if I need to make a phone call that can wait a day or two, I will put it off a lot of times.

I have a feeling my oldest will be like that too. He "Forgets" that he has homework until the very last minute all of the time. I am trying so hard to break him of this habit!!!

He is still pretty young, only 11, but I know that many of the habots that I began at his age have carried over into my adult life. I just hope he grows to realize that some things just cannot be put off as he would like them to be.

See i procrastinate but i am okay. I mean i have no problems in the end. I mean the end results are good. Well don't worry so much about your older children as he procrastinate. He'll be fine just make him realize the pros and cons regarding procrastination i bet he will surely understand you. By the way how much older is he. Is he still a small kid. Well I think your older one is going to be all rite.

Yes, I am guilty of procrastination. I have made a thousand resolutions but nothing seems to work. I just love putting of a job until the very last moment.

I guess putting work off until the last minute is just a concept I do not understand. I will cram a lot of work into one day, sometimes just so I have to work harder and faster to get done on time, but I don't put off work.

I've always been a procrastinator. I admit, if I really don't want to do something I'll try to put it off as often as I can because I just don't want to do it. It gets me in a lot of trouble too since I'm an art student in college and I have many many projects that are often due the next day or sooner. I shouldn't be such a procrastinator though.

My husband also puts the things off that he really does not want to do. It drives me crazt when I ask him to do something that would only take him a minute or two, and he says that he'll "do it tomorrow".

Yes, I am a procrastinator, so is my husband and kids. We will all put stuff off until the last minute, but at that last minute we always seems to get things done, and done well. I have more problems getting things done now, because of physical condition, so I have adjusted to starting things early and working on them in small bits of time as I can stand it. But truthfully, I don't enjoy that as much as do a lot or all of something at the last minute. Adrenalin junkie, I guess.

Not really, except for those tasks I detest, like ironing, preparing a proposal, filling up my tax forms - all these I usually wait until almost nearing the deadline! Other than that, I get most things done!

The thing I tend to procrastinate about the most is buying things for myself. I will put it off until there is absolutely no choice.

NO and that is the one thing that I hate about my husband - He is a huge putter offer. I pay the bills the day I get them and I never put off anything and I am always early for any type of an appointment. he is always late and always waits until the last minute to get anything done and then gripes because he has no time.

I can relate. My husband will put htings off until it gets to the point that I get up to do it myself. Then, he always tells me that he was "getting ready" to do whatever it was.

well yes and most of the time too. I never have the initiative to complete my work before deadline. I always get it done few seconds before deadline. Unless the things are very important, then I might get them done straight away. Otherwise i'll rest my lazy bum on the sofa, watching some movies witha soda in my hand...

I guess it depends if I want to do it or not. It if is something that I need to do for someone else then generally I will get it done pretty fast. I do alot for other and by the time that I am dont doing all that for them I am to tired to do anything for myself. If I adsolutely have to do it first I guess I do it as soon as I get up in the morning.

I hear you loud and clear. I spend most of my day doing things for others, and by the time I am dine with all of that, I have a hard time finding the motivation to do things for myself. I think that is one of the reasons I tend to get up and get myself moving right away. Besides, I feel horrible if I waste any time during the day, I always feel like there is something I should be doing.

Usually I do things right away. When in office, I had the habbit of clearing up my desk as quickly as possible in a set logical order. At home, I cannot wait long if nobody is responding. I am a good doer, but not a good guider. I did not feel that way until very late. We need to learn how to be a good guider, as well.

My desk is far from tidy! I do tend to put things into order though. My desk may be a mess, but it is an organized one. When I am working outside the home, I do not have a desk, but I do have a set routine each place I go. One thing that really helps me gain clients is that I do not procrastinate at work. I go, get my job done quickly, efficiently, and thoroughly. I have been told by some of my clients that they have never seen someone clean like I do.

I am the queen of procrastination! I have all day to get things done. So I lounge in my pj's doing absolutely nothing. Then hours go by and I realize the laundry and the dishes need done, the house needs vacuumed...etc etc. If I could make myself wake up early, shower and make a nice breakfast I might feel more motivated for the day ahead. Right now its sleep until the baby won't let me anymore. Play with her and lounge all day. While she naps I catch up on a book or shower. The housework always comes last and sometimes not at all. I always put off those things that need done but that I really don't want to do.

When it comes to cooking and cleaning around the house, I have found that if I get up and get busy right away, I tend to get more done. If I sit down before I start, forget it.

Yeah I procrastinate but I don't do it to the point of it messing something up. If I know I can wait to do something then 9 times out of 10 I'm going to wait to do it.

I have learned not to procrastinate in this life, my time is such a precious thing that I hate to waste a moment that should not be taken for granted. Great topic discussion:

Yes, life is a very precious thing and should not be taken for granted at all. I think that some people procrastinate doing the things that must be done because they want to enjoy everything else at times.

I guess I would label myself as a procastinater. I usually delay doing things till the last moment. No matter how much time I have been given, it is the last minute where I wake up and do it.

Don't feel bad, a friend and I were supposed to begin weekly trips to the local gym together, 2 months ago!! It isn't so much that we keep putting it off, things just keep coming up that are stopping us from going. As of now, we are shooting for next week...again.

I can do this quite frequently too! I have heard that many procrastinators are addicted to adrenaline. I can believe it! When I have only a few minutes left to do something, I can really kick it in gear! How about you?
