Hi mylotters, when I was growing up we didn't have an option to be home-schooled. I think I had been home-schooled that my life and experiences would be totally different, and I may have had a totally different lifestyle. Many of my friends and even my younger sister home school their children. I think it is wonderful to have this option, the only drawback in homeschooling is that it can lack the socialization that public schools offer. Although, it has become to popular there many programs that have been put in place for home-schoolers, like sports, drama that they can participate in. If I had had school aged children now, I think I would opt for homeschooling them. There is so much "junk" for them to deal with in the public arena, drugs, attitudes, unhealthy peer pressures. So what do you think? Home School or Public School? and why? Happy Postings! Be happy, be joyful, be safe, be strong! Oohcute2340

I would have loved to homeschool my kids. We live in Japan where legally homeschooling is a very grey area. I've had my kids at home for about a year because of bullying problems. It was good but unfortually my Japanese is very bad and they need the language to get on here. At the moment my oldest son who is 17 is attending a corrospondence high school, which is flexiable. So he is at home but also has study group and other activities. My second son who is 14 attends a special school set up by the city for kids who refuse school. This has been a real life saver for him, he was sucidile, he missed so much school because of extreme bullying from first grade. Again it is flexiable plus the kids work at their own pace and many days one to one with the teachers there. He has gained a lot of confidence and might go back to school for the last year of junior high school. My youngest boy is in the 5th grade, he got lucky with teachers until this year. Now bullying has started, so he goes a few days a week but stays home when he can't take any more. Today he is home and did a lot of study this morning and will do some again now. My youngest starts school this year and I'm wondering what will happen. It is a real adventure.
