Do you still get excited about your birthday?

Do you expect to receive a lot of gifts?
Do you like surprise parties?
Do you invite a lot of friends over to celebrate with you?
Do you think your family knows exactly what to get you?
I love birthdays, I always do not expect anything, but I always am grateful for anything I do receive, even if it is just a card. That way I am not disappointed if I don't get anything at all.
I enjoy the simplest things in life and really love being able to be free from being caught up in the haves and the have nots.
What about you? Just in case you're wondering today is not by birthday, but it is coming up soon next month.

I turned 31 a little over a month ago, and I really didn't feel any excitement at all. My birthdays are usually just another day of work for me...

That was how I used to feel. I think it was a bit of depression I needed to deal with. I pray that is not what you are dealing with now. I learned how to be happy for everything and happy is a decision I chose everyday. I am thankful in everything (in a lot attention and gifts and also in very little or sometimes none at all).
Thanks for your response.

I passed the depressed stage about 9 months ago. I was the victim of a business scam that ended up costing me a career and $13,000. I have found another job, but I am not making quite as much money as I used to, so I am behind on some of my bills. I am keeping my house payment and truck payment paid, but other bills are falling behind. My marriage isn't what I want it to be, and I am not happy in my job or with some other things in life. SO, I guess all I can do is wait to see if things get better.

We have a pretty good deal on our house, and the car payments we have aren't that bad either. It is the other bills like credit cards and stuff that are falling behind. I appreciate the prayers. I too am a Christian, and I have realized that prayer is about the only thing that is going to help me catch up again...thanks again...

Since I am already married and have our child. My birthday seems to be less important and I almost regard it as an another ordinary day. My friends also have their families now and they are busy with work and housework, so usually we will just say hi in this day. So I don't expect to receive lots of gifts in my birthday.

Nope, I am in my middle 20s and I don't expect my birthdays. I just hope it can delay, haha, and how about one birthday every two years coz I don't want to be old so soon...For girls, it's horrifying to get older and older adn if ok, I really want to avoid birthday, rather than celebrate it with so many ppl. Especially they will get some candles on the cake with same qty as the age. That's so embarrassing. I remember mf bf send me red roses, same rule about the quantity. When you guys are still expecting and getting so excited about the birthday thing, you are happy and lucky.
I want to call someone, older than me, to comfort myself that I am not that old yet, lol.

I still get pretty excited about my birthday but then again I'm still pretty young. I'm excited for my next birthday because it will be my eighteenth birthday and that will be a big turning point in my life. Hopefully my next birthday will usher in an age of success.

Hello hdjohnson! To tell you honestly, I'm not excited about my birthday. I don't know why. But i'm thankful that God given me another year to live on. All I want is a greeting from everybody, I am not expecting that somebody will given me a gift but I will be very happy if they have brought me a gift. Hahaha...
Anyway Advance Happy Birthday!!!

Yes at the ripe old age of erm *AHEM* I still get excited about my birthday. It's usually a good excuse to have a night out with friends at a bar or club and I can get a good crowd together of friends and colleagues and ex colleagues who are now friends and some cousins and can usually get at least 30 people together. On my last birthday celebration I had over 40 guests - don't get me wrong, I'm not rich enough to subsidise them with drinks - I tell people not to bring gifts or cards but to just come along and have a good time and many people come along because they know I can get a big crowd together and have a memorable night!
As for being excited about getting gifts, I'm not fussed at all about receiving birthday presents and really what I look forward to most on my actual birthday is being pampered like a princess by my family, more specifically by my hubby who goes all out to make my day really extra special (which I do for him on his birthday as well). I do love receiving birthday cards, especially when there's an extra personal message in there from the sender.
Happy birthday well in advance of next month's birthday pal. x

Oh boy, birthdays are a heavy subject for me this year. I will be hitting the big 40. I will say that I am very happy that I am much wiser now,(thank God)than in my youth. I believe that I am ready for a lot of things that I wanted back then. But as far as turning 40 itself, well, I am just grateful to still be alive and that is all that I will say about that.

I'm still pretty exicted about my birthday since it is the day in which i enjoy the most more than the other days but at times there are times when my birthday goes worse than my normal days and i have evn cried during one of my birthdays and i have felt a lot on my birthday and i think that that was the worse birthdaqy i ever celebrated and i hope that nothing of that sort happens again and i should be happy on that day...

Yes I looked forward to my birthday but for a totally different reason now.
My birthday is 29th Feb so when it isnt a leap year we (me and my twin) celebrate on March 1st, almost 5 years ago my eldest daughter was born March 1st so most years now we celebrate together how I could I not look forward to that, its an expensive month though with my youngest daughter being born the end of march aswell lol!

I used to have big birthdays, with the cake, ice cream, gifts and friends helping to celebrate them with me.. I have now had so many that I don't pay any attention to them.. I do get cards and gifts but I don't really celebrate like I used to..

Hey, thanks for the cookie and cake photos, lol! I love surprise parties with friends I haven't seen in a long time. Even if it is just cake and ice cream, it is always great to see the familiar faces every once in a while, even if it is just for a day once a year!

I do not get excited about birthdays anymore either. My husband starts talking about his birthday two months before it comes. I usually do not get gifts, depending on if we have money, my husband may take me out to dinner. I did have a surprise party about eight years ago, it was really nice and I was surprised and enjoyed it. I gave my husband a party about five years ago. This year, if things do not get any better, we may even forget it's our birthday when it comes, because our minds will be focused on surviving.

Do I get excited about birthdays? You bet I do! Am I excited that I have a birthday coming up in 6 weeks? You bet I am!
It's not an age thing. Even though I am turning (*cough*)years old this year, I don't necessarily see the birthday in terms of the passing of years. I would rather think of it as a celebration of the journey taken so far in life.
Life is too short not to enjoy any opportunity to celebrate that we can find. And what better event to celebrate than the anniversary of *my* birth? Which is coming up in 6 weeks, BTW.
I don't care if I have a big celebration of a little one. I just don't want to sit home and do nothing. And while presents are nice, I find the little gestures to be more meaningful--breakfast in bed, having someone else do the dishes, having control over the remote control for the entire day, etc. I just want to feel like a queen for a day.
My big problem is that most of the people in my life are forgetful. I have received presents from well-meaning friends on March 31 who knew that my birthday is "sometime in March". (It is on the 1st, actually.)
And it can be hard to find subtle ways to slip into conversation the fact that I have a birthday coming up. In six weeks. So I won't. Be subtle, that is.

Another enthusiastic person just like me regarding their birthday. I think it's one of the most important days in history, because you and I were created as new life, we both have I'll only unique and special set of birth records (fingerprints, footprints).
My birthday is Feb. 18 a few weeks before yours. So happy early birthday in advance my friend.

i don't really get excited about my birthdays anymore. its just a normal day for me now. i dont ask for anything or expect parties, but it is nice to have my family around. i usually spend my birthday in reno during the annual ribfest. i've been going there the past 5 years and i'm just happy that my cousins and uncles and aunts are all able to come and celebrate my birthday in reno while eating ribs and gambling.

Somehow eating ribs and gambling just don't sound like they got together, maybe wings and gambling or fried chicken, lol! Sorry it's just a normal day for you, I enjoy it so much, I am always thank ful for another year, and will always enjoy what I have done.

No Now I get excited about my kids b-days. My son is only 5 weeks old. But my daughters excitement is contagious. I like seeing her rip through wrapping to get to what is underneath. I do hope my hubby remembers my birthday without reminder.

A few hints to hubby shouldn't hurt especially if he isn't the type of calendar or date oriented type person. I remember specific details of all important dates though.
