You receive a User Rating star once you have reached 100 posts. The number in the star reflects how well other users regard you. This depends, among other things, on how often people rate you '+' or '-'. You will see from the Guidelines that you should never ask people to rate you. What should happen is that, if your response or discussion is judged to be good quality, then many people should give you '+' ratings. The only time you should get a '-' rating would be if you posted a response that was poor or off-topic or a discussion which was not in the spirit of good MyLotting.

Hi, phatiasid. You are not alone getting disappointed with nonresponse to posts here or at any other forum for that matter. I wish you could imagine how a dedicated housewife feels when the husband refuses to eat a sumptuous meal that had taken her a lot of time, energy and money to prepare.
I have started a good number of posts here at myLot. At the best, I got 4 or 5 responses. The others got only 1 or none at all! Honestly, this has discouraged me from starting a discussion, preferring instead to respond to posts from other members, especially the ones with no responses.
"Frustrating and disappointing response"? Well, nonresponse is my own frustration and disappointment. I don't worry so much about the opinions expressed over my posts. Members are entitled to their opinions. However, there are occasions when I felt that my posts were better than those selected as best response. Even at that, the discussion starter is entitled to his/her judgment.

It happens quite often that we post discussions that aren't of interest to other people. This may be due to the topic itself or to the way we worded it or simply that people were thinking about other things at the time and our comment or question didn't get noticed. When that happens, it's best to just shrug one's shoulders and get on with it. It's not really a big deal and it happens to most of us in real life too. Sometimes we join in a conversation and say something that is a burning issue to us but just doesn't fit in with what everyone else is talking about.
Even though MyLot is an international forum, it has its busy times and its slack times and people from different parts of the world are online at different times. If you post a discussion about some local topic and get no responses, it could be that nobody else from your country is online at that time and that the topic is meaningless to, say, an American.
Certainly one way that helps one to get responses to discussions is having a good Friends list made up of people who are interested in discussing topics that interest you. It's always a good idea to be selective about your friends and to have a circle of friends with mutual interests.

I do received some comments from fellow myloters which is annoyed me and sometimes makes me feel disappointed, that's a normal feeling when you are first timer here in mylot you easily carried away with the responses but just ignore it and don't mind it. Some people here really like to do that, get other disappointed and annoyed.
