Sorry if this is been posted before, but I couldn't find a good enough explanation and the mylot faq was useless.
I'm not exactly new to myLot, I joined about 3 or 4 years ago, I just don't post a lot, and there is still a lot about this site I do not understand. I don't understand the rating thing at all. What does the star rating mean, and where does it come from? Is this from your posts being rated positively? And what exactly does the number after your name mean? I thought this was a rating that had something to do with the star, but I saw someone with a rating number twice as high as mine and their star was only 2. Are the two even related to each other?

after you reach the 100th post, you will see a star near your nickname and it represents your rating. it is depended on your posts which are rated with positive or negative marks. If people give you positive ratings your star rating will increase among with your mylot reputation. In the other hand, the opposite is true for the negative ratings you recieve.
I can't really say the system really represents something real. Because people will give you positive ratings if you agree with hem, and will give you negative ones if you disagree. So having low ratings mean you are some extra ordinary person in my opinion.

yes it shows you the count of your posts :) I think you might have done it and more, because time to time they delete discussions and responses if they are not good. and too short comments are not counted.
you say you have been a member of this site for many years,i think there's nothing wrong in that :))

Thanks for this discussion Yoshi_, I was having the same questions and found this post very useful. There are also levels in interest rankings, does that show how much you participated in those interest or how you were rated?

I think both are related to how others view you and your participation here in mylot. So if my star rating is 9, my mylot rating is 94. the logistics behind these is not clear to most of us but I think they are interrelated and depends on our responses and how others rate us for our responses.
