How are you with lizards?

For many years, we never saw a lizard around our house, but we had cats back then. All of a sudden, those critters began to appear everywhere around our house. And the one place I hated to see them was on my back steps! I would often have to take the broom to them to keep them from getting into my laundry room.
One night late, I got up and walked through the house to go to the kitchen to get a glass of milk. The house was dark. My carpet in my Den is brown/cream/gold colored, that appears mostly brown. Anyway, it's definitely dark at night. You have to realize I was barefoot! I got nearly to the doorway going into the kitchen from the den. I happened to look down and saw this pair of small eyes looking at me! I thank the Lord I hadn't taken that one last step on the carpet. I hollered for my husband as I turned on the den light. He ran that lizard around the room until he cornered it behind his recliner. We thought that was the end of the lizards. We had no idea they would appear again. Apparently, they liked our house!
I later found a dead one in the air vent in the floor of our foyer. It had probably crawled in the front door. Again, we thought, oh, this all happened at the same time and no more would be spotted. But, not too long later, we were painting, and I had laid sweaters and blouses on the hangers across our daughter's bed in her old bedroom. I went to get one to wear and thought I had seen a brown leaf on one of them. I was wondering what a leaf would be doing on that sweater, only to realize it was moving!! This was another live lizard. I hit at it only to miss. It got away. I was sick to think we had another live lizard loose in our house. So, when my husband came home from work, it was his task once again to hunt and kill that lizard. That was the last live one we have had in our house, although we did find the skeleton of another one we had missed in the first go around. Lizards are the second thing I hate, besides snakes!! They may not bother you, but they sure bother me! My house is no place for a live lizard because it won't be alive when I find it.

I think the animal world is trying to tell you you should be running a zoo! LOL
So ok, no snakeskin belts, purses or shoes. How about a 3 cornered net with a handle you can hang from a belt loop?

I tell you what, girl! You know how to extract a good laugh!! But I don't want to see anymore lizards in my house. I just thank the Lord I didn't step on that first one or pick up the one on the bed! I still don't know how it got between those clothes!

Get a cat and keep it hungry!
Sorry, just kidding. At least the lizards don't bike like snakes do! Oh, I'm sure they'll bite if cornered, but they'll run faster than a snake would!
It sounds like you're living in 'Kid Heaven'!!! At least MALE kid Heaven! What little boy wouldn't LOVE to find a lizard in his house!
Our main problem is with turtles. THOSE I can catch! Oh, and chipmunks. My dog takes care of them when they get inside.
I feel for you. I really do! I have a friend who lives in the mountains just a little south of me. I haven't seen a single lizard but he has them all over the place all the time! They don't usually come INTO the house unless it's cold outside but they're everywhere outside... on his porch, stairs, in the garage, woodpile, all over! It's strange what a couple of miles will change as far as wildlife goes! Maybe it's because we're at a higher elevation than he is, I don't know.
I can't help you as far as a suggestion goes because I don't even know what these things eat besides bugs. I wouldn't know what to tell you to put in a trap. I guess you'll just have to find out for sure where they're getting in and block it.
Want to borrow my dog? She's a little Maltese, but she's already successfully caught and killed a little chipmunk!
Good luck in eliminating your lizard problem!

Only time I've ever seen a live lizard is at the zoo or pet shop. They aren't common around here, probably because of our cold climate. So there's one good reason for me not to move out of NY state. I can handle the cold and high cost of living, I can't handle too much wild life! Especially icky scaley kind.

Lizards are nothing. We find geckos all the time around our place, even in the bathroom sink once. Wait until you find a nice large and very furry tarantula, then see what you think. LOL Last year we had five of them in our screen room. Nothing like a spider the size of a tennis ball to put the crawly thing into perspective huh? LOL

I am sorry about your predicament with lizard and I know there isnt anything I can say to calm your fears. In fact I know that what I say may annoy you even more but lizards really wont trouble you ,most of them are peaceful creatures(I guess that doesnt allay your fears).I have lizard around my house and I see them a lot over my window but I actually liek seeing them because they are the kind that eats annoying insects around my house ,so our arrangement is a mutually symbiotic arrangement

I’m OK with lizards mainly because they eat cockroaches and I am petrified of cockroaches. Lizards are better of the two to me…though I seriously dislike cleaning their droppings (yuck!!!). but I can understand what you mean and they are a serious health hazard too, if their number goes beyond control.

It sounds like "your lizards" are chameleons. We had a lot of them when I lived i Loiusiana. They don't freak me out umless it is a sudden movement. Snakes, on the other hand (and why in the world would anyone want them on either hand) are on of my least favorite things. My youngest brother who has been deceased for about 4 years hated anything reptilian. It was because of the snakes and stuff from the time he was in Vietnam in the army. Alligators and lizards I can stand but not snakes.

I cannot even bear to imagine killing these creatures. It's a good thing they are not as agressive as humans. I just couldn't kill any creatures like that.

aaaw poor lizards! they EAT THE BUGS! whenever we get one in the house i just chase it down, catch it and put it back outside where it belongs. usually here at least they only come in for a few reasons.
1. chasing bugs.
2. find water
3. seeking warm place during our winters..which arent very wintery lol.
ive even caught them and then put them on the back porch wall near the light so they could catch more bugs before they come in the back door lol!
lizards are cute!

Lizards are an every day occurrence here for me in South Florida. We have anoles and geckos and they are in the house and on the walls and windows all the time. Also, I have found frogs, toads, and snakes in the house. There is so much wildlife here you would not believe it. I don't know how to catch them really. They eat bugs as far as I know. They really don't bother me as I know they keep the insect population down. You might want to put out glue traps and see if that helps in any way. Good luck!
Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

Well, we have lizards in our house. I really don't mind them. Though I am not the kind of person who would want to touch them. But I also don't want them out of the house. A teacher of mine ones said that lizards have a good purpose in the house. They help take out mosquitos. Well, I am not the kind of person who loves to use insectisides, so in a way, the lizards are my natural mosquito killer.
