i thought the long vacation last Christmas was really a nice one! i spend the whole vacation with family and friends celebrating the yuletide season together! it was such fun! not knowing i'll be suffering my salary this much! my company's been holding our salary because they were been discussing that the holidays should not be paid at all! and now there's nothing left with our salary! really bad! if i'd only knew i should have worked during those days instead of going out and having fun! until now our salary has not yet been released and this was the first time it happened that our salary was delayed! how about you have you been paid during those Christmas holidays?

Hey, I think you can complain this to the Department of Labor and Employment. This is a bad sign. Why the heck would they touch the employees salary when in fact it is a government declaration, and if you indeed went to office on those days, they should have paid you twice for those days.

that's what we (employees) been complaining... besides they paid us the rest of the other holidays the whole 2008 year then why not the christmas holidays. what was the difference with other declared holidays? i am now currently looking for another job this is not really a good sign to stay in the company im with now. thanks for responding.

I think having a long Christmas vacation is good because you have been working the whole year and you only get a long vacation during Christmas. Besides it is the best time to get bonding moments with your love ones and to plan a long trip either within the country or abroad. I wish that even we are on vacation we should still be receiving our salary but that only happens to some cases. We may spend a big amount during this season but come to think of it, it only happens once a year! Why should be set limitations to ourselves if it is for the benefit of us and of our love ones? I think long Christmas vacation should always serve as a motivation to earn more the next year and to do good the whole year so that the reward will come on December. And I always believe on the saying that "we only live once so make the most out of it." Enjoy life while it lasts because it is too short to keep yourself working and working again and again. A month long vacation is not good but a two-week straight one is understandable. Thanks!
