Before I start to enter the elementary level in formal schooling, I already had the knowledge of writing and reading. My mother is the one who taught me my first abc's. She made colorful cut out letters and show me the name of each. She will introduce first the letter to me and then she will ask me again what letter she introduces. She taught me lesson's everytime she is done with household chores. I always remember how she called me each time to study. She has always with her abc's and some colorful books. She will make me sit down on her lap and read me stories. Later on, she help me how to read, myself. I learn reading easily because I am interested in stories and colorful drawings.I can say that I am very thankful with my mother because she is a very responsible person. Because of her, I can say that I can relate well to the teachings of our teacher. I can understand her more easily because my mother had already provided a background on those abc's.
Can you still remember your childhood? To whom will you owe your first learning of abc's? How did you learn it? Happy mylotting!

Hello annierose! I don't exactly remember but I guess I learned ABC's from my mother. All I remember is that she taught me how to right my name so probably, before letting me write it, she taught me abcd first.

I remember when i was child, i don't learn much in abc. I just play my toy with abc. My family try to teach me abc from that toy but i learn lots from school. The teacher want me to write one page for A and one page for B until Z. That how I learn ABC when i was child.

Learning abc can be learned in different ways just like what happened to you. I guess that is a good strategy in teaching young children. Associating learning in playing. I also do those strategies in teaching kids here. Thanks for response.

I only learnt the alphabet when I went to kindergarten, because unfortunately my mother was illiterate(blame my grandfather). Though she raised me to be an independent learner, and now I can read, speak and write in 5 different languages.
I remember playing with alphabet toys when I was small, though I don't remember whether it was mine or not.

Good for you that despite what you said about your mom, you still successfully learned the alphabet and now a very smart person. Learning 5 languages is so amazing. I know only 2 languages. My mother tongue and English. I hope I can learn more in the future. Thanks for response :)

I learnt abc's from my mother..She is a school teacher so when she used to return home in the evening she would sit down with me and teach me abc while playing! Though I don't remember anything of that time.
Have a nice day!

Hi friend!
Wow, she is indeed a GOOD and sweet mother! Nice of her.
Ya even for me, my mother took pains to teach. But i couldn't recollect the slightest details.. And Yes i do remember fairly about my childhood. I learned partly from my mom and partly from my teacher ,

Hi,
My mother taught me my ABC's even before I was of the Kindergarten age. When she actually applied to a Kindergarten school, the administrative staff and the teachers told her that I did not need to attend the Kindergarten!! TRUE STORY!!!
So, at 4 years and 5 months old, I attended my 1st grade.
To date, I thank her almost everyday for all that she has done for me.
Take care

Wow, that was what exactly happened to my younger sister. During my time, Grade 1 starts at age of 7 but it changes and they start Grade 1 at age of 6. I do not enter kindergarten also just like my younger sister.
