Do you think kidnappings and robberies happen mainly to foreigners or is it that because a foreigner is involved it gets more media coverage?

Just don't go to Mindanao.
you will be 100% safe in the rest of the philippines. In fact, most of the kidnap for ransom syndicate in Cebu or mEtro Manila will always be hesitated to kidnap foreigners. the reasons being: yes, your right,it will get more media coverage & who will they contact for ransoms? they will still need to make overseas calls? hehe

i don't think its for media coverage. i think more foreigners are being involved in this criminal cases because many people thinks that foreigners always have a lot of money to pay for their ransom. so whenever they heard of foreigners all they think was a rich man that can afford of paying high amount of money. besides not just foreigners were being kidnapped or robbed, there were a lot of filipinos also from which they believed were rich enough too.

i guess its not only foreigners at risk of kidnapping or robbery. Anyone can be a victim. Filipinos also are get kidnapped by fellow Filipino rebels as well. I think if those bad guys see that you rich or you've got an influence, chances for such crime is higher...simply because of money.
