Just now I read an article that states that an average man spends 1/4 th of his total life time in buying his shoes. I don't think they spend this much time to select or buy the shoes. But still I'm really amazed by the number of shoes each man has. I personally wonder about my husband who has about 8 pairs of shoes. Do you accept this that an average man spends a quarter of his life to buy his shoes. How far do you agree with this?

We don't have a lot of shoes, just work boots, tennies and town shoes, my husband does have foot problems and it take a while for him to get fitted, but it's only once a year, that can't be 1/4 th of his life. I guess we just don't fit in.

Well I guess I am not the average man then because I certainly don't spend a 1/4 of my life time on shoes, this is very very high percentage. For me I guess it would be 1/100 and that's a generous amount, I hate buying shoes, I have to be in the mood and that is not very often, I think I buy about 2 or 3 pairs of shoes a year so I can't see that equating to 1/4. I have about five pairs of shoes I own, not including trainers for the gym. So to be honest I don't agree with this article my friend.

I think my husband has about 10 pairs of shoes in total. A couple of pairs of "good" shoes, a few pairs of trainers, summer stuff, and a pair of walking boots. It's not like men need a lot of shoes, I mean trainers go with everything they are likely to wear anyway.
Women on the other hand, we require many more shoes to go with our many outfits. If we were to live in jeans and t-shirt, then fair enough, a couple of pairs of trainers would do the job. But most of us don't.
I myself no longer have room for any more shoes. My husband has made me a huge shoe rack (which is now full), and if I want a new pair of shoes, I must throw out an old pair. This doesn't happen of course, I just hide the new ones under the bed, or in the botton of the wardrobe.
Having said all that, I don't think I spend 1/4 of my life shoe-shopping. A fair chunk of time yes, but not that much. But men spending that much time - I don't think so.
