It happened to me last night.I literally had a nightmare...it was a very bad dream...rather a scary dream about my past. I got up all on a sudden & I was perspiring heavily & my heart was on a race. It has happened to me quiet a few times before. I don't know whether its normal or not. I was wondering whether it has happened with anyone of you before. Please reply. Thank you in advance.

I used to have such dreams when I was a child. But now I hardly dream and if I do it at all it does not happen to be a bad dream. I am grateful to God as I am spared of bad things at least in my dreams.

Yes, it has. On several occasions, actually. It has even happened, on one or two occasions, that I would jump in bed, after I just had a nightmare.

Sometimes if I'm having a bad dream or even just one I don't like I have to get up and go get a glass of water or something or I will fall right back into the dream as soon as I fall asleep. I have an amazing amount of control when it come to dreaming but my dreams also don't seem to stop when I wake up, I have to wake myself up completely to get rid of them.

Sure, quite often I awake from a dream, I am reluctant to call it nightmare, as there are all kinds of dreams. Dreams are more or less related to physical and mental status. For instance, when there is a pain in my leg, I dreamed of being in the snow, and fail to get up from falls. When I think of somebody, even someone past away, they might appear in my dreams. Your dreadful dreams should not upset you too much. Rather have a regular health check to see if you need doctor's help. If you feel ok, a healthy life style will do you good.

If you keep having this nightmare and it's part of something in your past, it's usually due to repressed feelings about that incident. Whaterver happen triggered the nightmare to occur. You still are not fully recovered from the incident that the nightmare came from. I've had nightmares before and I have woken up in a fenzy, and scared and terrified of going back to sleep. Nightmares can be lessened, but you have to figure out what is causing it, what memory in your life is causing your nightmare? Think about that. I hope you start to sleep better in the future.
