Sometimes emails we receive make alot of sense! Let Wal-Mart bail out Wall Street it said. Do you agree?
1. At Wal-Mart, Americans spend $36,000,000 every hour of every day.
2 . This works out to $20,928 profit every minute!
3. Wal-Mart will sell more from January 1 to St. Patrick's Day (March 17th) thanTarget sells all year.
4. Wal-Mart is bigger than Home Depot + Kroger + Target + Sears + Costco + K-Mart combined.
5. Wal-Mart employs 1.6 million people and is the largest private employer, and most can't speak English.
6. Wal-Mart is the largest company in the history of the World.
7. Wal-Mart now sells more food than Kroger & Safeway combined, and keep in mind they did this in only 15 years.
8. During this same period, 31 Supermarket chains sought bankruptcy (including Winn-Dixie).
9. Wal-Mart now sells more food than any other store in the world.
10. Wal-Mart has approximately 3,900 stores in the USA of which 1,906 are SuperCenters; this is 1,000 more than it had 5 years ago.
11. This year, 7.2 billion different purchasing experiences will occur at a Wal-Mart store (Earth's population is approximately 6.5 billion).
12. 90% of all Americans live within 15 miles of a Wal-Mart

Oh, I think I read that email. However, it is important to remember how Wal-Mart is lambasted even when humorously considering the email's suggestion. They do not treat people who work for them well.

Hmmm... Your post is very interesting and very informative. To tell you honestly, I haven't been to Wal-Mart. And here in the Philippines, I don't know if there is Wal-Mart. But I presume that Wal-Mart can only be found in the United States of America. But Wal-Mart is very popular especially in the internet. Keep posting some interesting topics and facts like this ersmommy1. Happy posting..

If it can then I see no reason not to bail out Wall Street. Wow! that is alot of money. I shop at WalMart because it has lower prices then most the stores that we have in town. We have a SuperCenter WalMart.Actually our Kmart stores did combine with our Sears stores to keep afloat a few years ago because they were closing their doors. Largest in the history of the World..another WOW! I didn't know that. I live within 10 miles of a SuperCenter WalMart.

If someone makes a bad mistake they should pay for it. I had to pay for my bad mistakes and am still paying for them, so if a bank or a store makes bad decisions, they should pay for it themselves. The ones who should be getting a bailout are the people who paid their bills honestly, who did not make bad credit decisions not banks or companies who gave loans to people and countries who should not have gotten loans in the first place. Give the bail out to the man who lost his job due to the recession, not to the bank that decided to give loans to places like Zimbabwe.

Wow, okay I have to agree here. If walmart has so much to spare, why shouldn't they help out. Instead people who make minimum wage, have their taxes raised or what ever else to solve the problem. I think it's time to tkae a little from the rich and give to the poor.

These stats are sad but possibly true. I hate Wal-Mart because they are so big they feel they don't have to offer good customer service. But that and one other very expensive store is all we have in our town. Because I can't afford the prices most of the time at the locally owned store I am forced to shop Wal-Mart. The customer service is so poor one day when I went into the store, coupons in hand, I was actually told by the cashier, "Oh, you must be the coupon lady we were warned about in our meeting." They are telling their employees about people who use coupons. Yes, I use them and yes I use a lot of them. But that is my right and they could actually thank me for it. After all they make an additional 7 to 8 cents for each coupon I redeem.

wow these are interesting facts. Personally, I don't go to walmart unless I don't really have any other options. I prefer to shop at the smaller, locally owned stores. Walmart could fund all these bailouts and never even miss the money, and they would be giving back to the citizens who have given so much to them. That is good thinking. It would also make up for some of the bad things they have done to their employees over the years.

I don't think any bailout is a good idea. Part of living in a free market economy is the idea that you can succeed or fail. It makes no difference whether you look at it from a personal or business perspective; whether or not you are successful depends on how responsible you are with your finances. When the government bails someone out they are removing that responsibility. When people or businesses no longer take responsibility because they believe the government will bail them out, they will not spend they're money wisely and the problems will get worse rather than better. I know this may be a vague, "in a nutshell" explanation but the truth of the matter is, is that the bailouts the government is proposing are actually giving the government more power over the economy and the nation; resulting in Socialism. The economy is far too big and complex for a ruling body of any kind to successfully manage. That is why a free market economy, when allowed to sort itself out, leads to the most prosperity for an individual, a business, and a nation. A Socialist economy never has worked and never will.

It does not really surprise me the information that you collected today. I am indeed within a 15 mile radius of a couple of Wal-Marts. I live pretty close to them. It is a good savings place and I like to save money there. They have a lot of good deals usually.

Those are certainly some very interesting statistics. I personally do not shop at Wal-Mart. I think their produce is horrible and so is their meat. I prefer to shop at Kroger and pay a few cents more for my food. Kroger employees are at least offered benefits and treated like a valuable employee. I think most people shop at Wal-Mart for a matter of convenience and price. Where else can you get your oil changed, a new TV, some underwear, and dog food?
