Hey Mylotters! I was browsing the net today and came up on an article that mentions the new season of American Idol (season 8) has started out with lower ratings. According to the article, the premiere episode of the eighth season of American Idol, which premiered on January 13, 2009, saw a 10% ratings drop. The good news is, the show stilled pulled in 30.1 million viewers and is top rated show on tv this season. So, I guess it's safe to say, this show isn't going anywere!! So, I decided to start a little survey. Are you still watching American Idol?? Or are you part of that 10% drop??

I am watching the show but not religiously like previous seasons. I think they start American Idol at the wrong time of year. I am already in the middle of the season for most of the shows I watch and will continue to watch them over American Idol. I love Biggest Loser and the show started a week before American Idol premiered. It comes on television on Mondays in the same time slot as American Idol. So on Monday I only watched AI during the commercial breaks. I did watch the one on Tuesday since I didn't have another show lined up.

I know, the story lines are so great. I have seen all of the seasons and I think this one is the best. They have the heaviest season ever and also the heaviest man and woman that has ever been on the show. Plus, there was a huge twist in the beginning. I am totally hooked. :)

Yeah, I know what you mean. It is really hard to just stop watching a show that is already at it's peak in the season to go watch something else. I think the Biggest Loser is great show although I only saw the first two seasons. But I'm not surprised that the show has lasted this long because the stories that each individual brings to the show are always realy touching. Thanks for your response!

I agree. I think the show is better when they are down to maybe 10. The thing is, really can't remember each contestant at the beginning. And the audition episodes really bore me. Thanks for your response.

I am one of the 10% drop. I'm the one that posted about the drop and was hoping people would tell me, if they are still watching this season. I enjoy hearing some of them when they put out an album, but really don't want to hear people that can't sing.

I still watch American Idol. I have missed some few episodes but it is okay since the Top 24 has not been selected yet. Perhaps other people are just waiting for the Top 24 to be selected as well. I think the ratings will still increase as the contest goes on.

I got to admit that I still do watch the show. But only when im really bored and nothing else to do. I think after eight seasons the show is just getting tired. I know they are doing all sorts of stuff to it this year to change it up a bit, but I doubt it will have much effect on the ratings, and if it does, like you said from that article apparently its going to be a negative effect.

Yeah, they've made changes and everthing, but the show's format is still the same. And I think 8 seasons of this is long enough. But hey, if people keep watching, I don't think this will be the final season. I mean, 30 million viewers is still alot!
