Many of us have probably heard that positive thinking brings forth a lot of advantages. I always start the day with a positive attitude. I have noticed that it will really help us cope up with whatever we do for the day and the days to come. Before, I usually worry most especially when there are difficult task to be accomplished and usually I end being stressed. Now, that I have changed my outlook, it seems that everything is running so smoothly. What about you, do you start the day positively?

Sounds like you might be into the Law of Attraction principles as well. I've been a firm believer in positive thinking even when things go wrong in my life...like maybe some serious situation crops up in my life that could wind up with negative results...yet I still maintain a positive frame of mind that things will work out. For instance...back in 2006 my mother and I were facing an eviction issue with our landlord....LONG story I won't get into and the hows and whys of it all...I managed to find a great lawyer, but you know the case is bad when your own lawyer doesn't give much hope in a victory (for our side)and tells you up front there wasn't a chance in hell of winning against the landlord, and his lawyer was a slick operator and shark out for blood--ours. Now I could have gone in the direction of negative thinking and gone in that direction that our case was hopeless, but never did....I kept my mind positive....end of story? I won the case despite the odds.
And yes, I do start the day with positive thoughts

Wow, that is definitely something that could prove the power of positive thinking. I am glad that it ended the way you want it to be. With respect to the law of attraction principle, I agree. Its similar to that. I have also applied it. Long before I came over the law of attraction, I was able to read something inspirational, this made me change my outlook in life. Just last year, I was able to see "The Secret". I beleived you have also heard about it, its a dvd movie about the law of attraction. I love it so much since it has really strengthened my will and determination to think positively. Well, I have definitely seen the effects. Its great. More power to you and more great things to come!

LOL--oh yup I THINK I've heard of The Secret
I have both book and the DVD and watch it over and over again...Mmmm...was the inspirational book by any chance You Can Heal Your Life by Louise L. Hay? If you haven't read it..DO. I have the DVD of that too. I actually have a ton of such books on the same genre of positive thinking and LOA type...How about A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle..another good one to read.

Being an optimistic person, I have always believed in the power of positive thinking. That's why I am often termed by friends as the ever-smiling person. Of course just like any average human being, sometime I do tend to worry but my positive outlook that things will always turn out right saves me from a lot of stress and needless worry. Oh and for difficult or daunting tasks, I view them as challenges that enhances my emotional/spiritual/career/character growth. Absolutely, I think changing our perspectives into positive will help us achieve more with ease, less or no headaches and makes us happier. As the refrain of the song goes - don't worry be happy...

Hi there sunbeams, you have said it well. Yes of course there are times that we worry. But worrying will only make matters worse. I been there, I worry a lot before. It will only end up with more problems since you will be to busy worrying instead of finding a way to solve or resolve a problem. So the best thing to do is think of it as a challenge and find away to to conquer that challenge. This can be done easily as long as you think positively. Best to you!

Yes I do, learned from sales, always have a positive mental attitude. You have to think positive always, meaning to say thinking negative would always bring you to a disgusting or disappointing mood. Disgusting in the way that you'll quit pursuing to something. In sales even though you can see negative threats still you think positive that it would result to closing. Same in life when you think positive no worries, hope comes in. Even though there are failures or disappointments still we can turn it positive by overcoming difficulties. Thinking that something good will happen and it happens.

Yes, so it is clear that even from the aspect of sales the positive attitude does matter a lot. In fact, it should be the attitude of every salesman. Having such feeling of being great and making sales will surely make your appearacne and approach great to any costumer. This will certainly help. Best to you and more sales to come!

Yes, positive thinking will surely bring you good results. If you think negatively on things, the most likely thing to happen is that you will indeed suffer and have yourself a bad day. From the moment you wake up, you should start the day with a smile and take out the negative feelings as well as the worries. This is the right attitude the will surely bring you much joy and success.

AS a therapist, I find that positive thinking works for most people, but there are those that it seems to have the opposite effect and seems to create more stress. With these cases, I work with a client to discover what barriers may be in his/her subconscious that is preventing him/her from creating a more positive frame of mind. :-) Derek

OK, if one has a barrier then his/her positive thoughts are not going to produce many good results. It is no good ignoring the barrier because it will only get stronger.
The first thing you would need to do is to recognize what is getting in your way.
To make life changes always calls for some sort of action (e.g. perhaps one needs to meditate to lower stress levels). If you then recognise this need to meditate and developing greater self-awareness, but feel resistant to it, you need to feel the resistance and do it anyway. There is nothing to lose except a little time each day. And you would probably spend more time feeling pessimistic and not doing anything, than you would in meditation anyway.
I am biased when it comes to meditation as I have done it for many years and as a therapist, have witness so many people turning their lives around using it. I have a great explanation of this on my site if anyone is interested.. http://tinyurl.com/4nqn4l

Hello derek, I am glad that you have joined this thread. Well, I guess you are very familiar with this kind of stuff being a therapist. I am sure that you have a lot of experiences with different kinds of people. I agree with you that positive thinking may not work for all people. Perhaps you could share with a little idea on how to take out the barier. Can an ordinary person with not much training take out the barier to come up with a positive thinking? Thanks in advance!

Oh I wish I could say the same thing. I open my eyes and think "$hit how do I turn around without any pain" as God only knows how I always manage to turn and sleep on my back when I know my back is killing me when I do that. But I do some positive thinking I think "I wish I am not going to be sick today". Who said been pregnant is easy.

Hi violeta_va, I understand. Sometimes there are factors that will affect the way we see things. Well, it may not bring the problem away but if you think positively, it may lighten up the burden. I am sure that you will be fine and I wish you good health always. Do keep it up with affirmation. Take care!

I feel better when I can stay positive. Staying out of my own head is the best thing I can do. My head is full of frustration over not being able to accomplish something on the computer for instance, and sometimes I even cry because other people can do this. Why can't I? In this case I'm talking about adding an avatar to my profile (different site). Then after I get done beating myself up I play a computer game and get over it.
The way I usually start my day is "Thank you God for getting me through the night and into a new day." That's pretty positive as long as I don't go and muck it up

Hi there joyce. Good to see you again. Its been a long while. I was not around here lately since I was very busy. Well, come to think of it, I do the same at the start of the day. I usually say to myself as I wake up... "Its gonna be a great day, thank God and ask God to surprise me more. I always believe that each day is a gift. When you receive a gift you are always surprised. That is why I always consider that each day will be surprising. Best to you and keep up the right attitude.

i like you always starts my day with a positive attitude and outlook. this helps me to face my day with gay and a better perspective. If everything seems dark and gray on how you see things around you you won't be able to notice what is beautiful for you have set yourself to be sad and full of worries. it is a mirror image and reflection of yourself. so it would be better to be always positive perception and everything around you will be okay.

I'm better with my positive attitude thesedays,It was once a big deal with me,I had a very negative attitude.I learned that my negative attitude was like a program in my brain that was playing on a loop,Constantly dripping negative comments into my mind.So after learning this was the reason for my super negative attitude i took action.I still have negative thoughts and feelings but now i'm much better at controling it and also i make sure i have plenty of positive things going on,It's a long process,Trying to change your inner program but i'm getting there.

This i heard from many great ppl that maintaining positive thoughts is good for living. i agree and almost majority of us agree but how to implement in the daily life where we found every type of person in our daily routine.so i not stress whether positive or negative, jst go and do straight but whtever we do should be right and not think abt the result in any instance of doing. why put so much stress when we are not responsible for the result as per the great people saying. i try to become calm as much as possible and then after anything happens, it not fault because i tried my level best from myown and thereafter its doing which have to happen. tht i feel and do. i not know hw much iam correct but this way i relieve from stress level to the extent. anyways keep smiling,

Well, each one of us are different in out own little way. The way we handle things as well as how we accept things that is happening. Moreso with the result of something that is beyond our control. I think what is important is to learn to accept the things that is happening like what you did and then react in the positive manner on how to deal with such events. I think you are doing the right thing. As long as you feel great there is nothing wrong with that. Best regards.

I am a positive thinker myself. I have learned that since i was still at school. Like you, i was a worrier before. I used to have anxieties especially of my activities at school. As I grew up, i became matured enough to accept reality and adopt a positive attitude. Its really important to have a positive attitude towards life and my faith in God helped me to be happy about life and what it may bring.

Yes, I guess you have used the right word. Being mature. I do think that our maturity has lead us to this kind of attitude along with the guidance from what we have read or seen that has inspired us to positively think. Well, do keep it up and I am sure that things will come out right for us. Though it may not be exactly what we want it to be, I am sure that it will always make us accept it with a happy feeling. Fait in God is also one of the things that has keep me going. Best to you and Godbless you always.

This is something I am trying to train myself to do. I know it would make a difference in my life if I could do this and I want to. It's just a question of taking the time to do so, and really committing to it. I think I am going to put up a note in my room to remind me to do so.

I wish you success in your life and hope that you will have the positive attitude to face whatever journey life will lead you. Best regards.

I really hope to return to this state as I have allowed alot of negative feelings to consume me. When I was younger, Im 27 now, I was such a upbeat spirit and just willing to engage with anyone. Heck, call it naivety but there was so much good with it. I was more open to change then I am now and just believed that all things were meant to happen just the way I wanted them so I guess I was a positive thinker. I really had this feeling as if there was some greater plan going on and it was amazing thinking back at it because things felt like they were always falling into place just right.
Unfortunately, I allowed the negative feelings to rein in and let go alot of faith I had. Im not saying that you have to be religious but studies do show that those who believe in a higher being do benefit physically and mentally having less instances of depression. I long to go back to that mindframe and currently reading Eckhart Tolle's books but I do believe the whole ego thing because its like there is this uphill struggle just to do that, maybe the mind has become comfortable with this kind of negative thinking (or the Ego has nearly taken over) but I can feel the resistance just trying to be positive so it does take work.

Yes, revellanotvanella, sometimes the negative thinking may overide our positive thinking. But I think it is all up to you and how you hande things. Couple it up with faith and I am sure that it will not be difficult to overcome. Sometimes our experiences may bring us down or up, but what is important is that we should always be ourself and we should use our experiences may it be good or bad to better our lives. If we let the bad things bring us down that would make our life sad and miserable. We should use it as a lesson, so that by the next time we face it, we are ready. Think positive, Goodluck and do not let the negative thinking overlap.

Well I'm much of a worrier than a being a negative thinker, and though I'm a worrier, I never let my worries to ruin my day and to think insane thoughts, but, I'd try to focus on good thinks even I worry much. When you think negatively, it attracts bad emotions and energy, but if your think positively it attracts a good energy that allows you to have a brighter day. I believe if a person has a problem you don't want to focus much on that problem, everyone does have problems, I mean who hasn't! The only thing is, once a person doesn't think too much of bad things, it makes him feel good more inside. So no matter how sad and bad your day is, never let this get you! Focus on the good side, I know it's kind of hard especially if someone just totally ruin your day, but, why we dwell on that if we know it'll just make things worse, and have us this burden within us, be inspired by simple things around you that makes you smile. That's already a good start of having a positive thoughts for the day ahead.

i really try to start the day with a positive outlook. but there are a few times when there's some dilemma and i don't have an idea of the outcome, i tend to be more realistic and try to tell myself, this might not come out the way i want it to. if i have that in my mind, it becomes less painful when i have to face disappointments. but generally, i agree with you - a positive outlook helps me have a more cheerful mood, and people around me tend to get influenced by this.
