I saw it tonight when it premiered. At first based on the previews I didn't understand why he was being so mean to Natalie. But when I watched the episode I realized that she's the one who got him shot. If one of my PCA's got me shot I would be cranky too. I use assistance just like Monk often for the same thing he does.Such as bill payment, cooking, and so on. But fortunately the state pays for mine. And I can have more then one. Over the course of the week I have six different people. So if I am cranky one day because something really bad happened that person only has to put up with me for a max of 24hrs in a row before someone else comes in. Mr. Monk has to pay for Natalie out of his own pocket and she doesn't have any back up system. So when he is cranky she's stuck with him. Its a very real portrayal of what it means to have physiological imperilment and need services and the only way to get them is to pay out of your own pocket.
What did you all think of the episode? Am I reading to much into it?

I don't know if I liked this episode. He is always complaining but tonight he was just plain mean and I don't think I liked him very much.
