A little googling of this seems to suggest the science isn't all in on this, but if there is any radiation risk it's very low. Personally I'd be more worried about falling asleep using it in bed, and accidentally dropping it or something like that. Basically, don't worry about radiation.
I'd also be careful if it feels like the laptop is overheating as there were recalls of Sony batteries for overheating and sometimes even catching fire or exploding in 2006 and 2008. If your laptop is on the list in this article, http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2008/10/laptop-fires-pr.html then you should be contacting the manufacturer and seeing if it can be replaced. If your laptop isn't one of those models, I don't think you have anything to worry about from this either, but if it ever does start to feel way hotter than usual, take it off your lap and power it down for a bit.

I used my laptop very often for five years.
I did however have the feeling when I have it on my lap or stomach, that I should not do that. It gets very warm. I don't trust that.
And by using the computer laying on your bed, could cause you neck and back troubles.
But, if it was really harmful, then I would have noticed by now.
At least I think so.
Take care, happy mylotting.
